Jim Robbie and the Wanderers is a bi-monthly radio drama podcast. A troupe of musicians is traveling a surreal post-apocalyptic America with their robot companion Jim Robbie, entertaining and sticking their noses where they don’t belong. The United States that the Wanderers inhabit is full of all sorts of strange and wonderful surprises, from zombies, cactus people, underwater kingdoms to vampires, messed up physics and mad scientists.

In 2003, Andy Berman, Carl Habermehl, Rick Katschke and Mike Schmalz formed the band Robot Breakdancing Union. They would go on to win their high school’s Battle of the Bands that year, but immediately became J.D. Sallinger-esque reclusives, never performing publicly again. However, over the past six years, they’ve pulled an XTC and have recorded a large sum of music. In the Robot Breakdancing Union Anthology, Andy, Carl, Rick and Mike tell the stories behind these songs and play the studio recording at the end of the episode. A good number of these songs have not been heard by anyone outside of the foursome. It will be a long journey, sometimes painful, sometimes euphoric, but always entertaining.

What have computers got to do with cows? Can a wooden mirror help us understand the computing behind digital image capture? Neil Rowse is the first dairy farmer in the UK to use a computerised system that gives cows control over when they are milked, and allows him to remotely monitor the welfare of individual animals. Daniel Rozin has created an computer operated mirror made from 835 tilting wooden tiles. With the help of a digital camera and a computer programme, the wooden tiles mimic the digital pixel information and tilt themselves into a ‘reflection’. This material is taken from The Open University course T224 Computers and processors.

Peter Scott-Morgan intends to defy his fatal diagnosis and live on as a cyborg.
Peter is extraordinary. A robotics scientist, an acclaimed business process expert and an accomplished author. Peter and his partner, Francis, were also the first same-sex couple to be legally married in the UK.
In 2017, Peter discovered he had a Motor Neurone Disease (MND). From the very start, he saw this terminal diagnosis as an opportunity to put his fascination with robotics and science fiction into practice and become the world’s first human cyborg.
This three-part podcast documents Peter’s curious journey, which could have profound implications for many people who suffer from conditions like MND. It opens up that big question: What does it mean to be human if you can continuously improve your ‘quality of life’?
Peter has a looming problem. “It’s like trying to build a lifeboat after the ship has already started sinking.” The increasingly debilitating effects of his diagnosis are closing in on his ambition. He encounters restrictive attitudes towards his new disability and the challenge of recruiting some of the world’s greatest minds, including IBM and Microsoft, to engage with his very personal problem. “We have to pull a number of rabbits out of a hat.”
What keeps Peter going is surprising. Living as a gay man, for forty years, has prepared him for this pioneering mission, despite the scepticism and prejudice he will encounter. “What makes you a man is what’s up here” Peter remarks as he raises a feeble hand to head height.
Peter 2.0 was created by sifting through over 100 hours of footage from a Channel 4 documentary, Peter The Human Guinea. The podcast reached the Top Ten in Apple Podcast’s Science list, was selected for the coveted New and Noteworthy recommendation and was shortlisted for a Rose D’or and won silver for Smartest Podcast at British Podcast Awards in 2021.
In the first three episodes, we’ll explain Peter’s journey to his ground-breaking transformation. The rest of the season follows Peter adapting to his new life as a cyborg.

Robots in Depth (RID) is an interview series with everyone in robotics, from top entrepreneurs, investors and corporate leaders to researchers, political policy makers and domain experts. The episodes are 30-60 minutes long, and a new episode is published each week. The format of RID is that of a talk show with one host and one interviewee, both in the same space. The interviews are relaxed and conversational in style and cover every aspect of robotics. Per Sjöborg hosts Robots in Depth. He is an experienced interviewer in the field of robotics, interviewing robotics experts regularly since he started his podcast in 2010.
