    Voices Of Standing Rock

    Voices Of Standing Rock

    by

    Since Oct 30, 2016 21:54 UTC

Short stories told by water protectors at Standing Rock, ND. “To understand one another brings unity. We need to share our lives. Without fear. Without judgement. And that will create unity that will be unbreakable.” – Duane His Chase. That is our mission. Thousands have set up camp near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in North Dakota. They stand in opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) and its planned crossing of the Missouri River. This is the largest gathering of Native Americans in over 100 years. Many are making this their home until the pipeline is stopped.

    The Good Man’s Radio Show

    The Good Man’s Radio Show

    by

    Since Oct 19, 2021 13:37 UTC

Ever since I could remember there was music in my life or rattling around in my head. As I was born in 1966 I was too young to really appreciate the great musical styles of the times, but I was brought up on the 70’s music of 10cc, Bowie, Roxy Music etc. so all was not lost. I have been passionate about early Garage/Psych since my teenage years but I discovered very quickly that the more I was to delve into the past musically the more pathways and other avenues of musical styles opened up to me leading into a fascinating world of Blues, R ’n’ B, Rock, Soul, Ska, Folk, Pop etc.

After many happy years of collecting vast quantities of music from the era 1960 to about 1978, I started to wonder if there was anyone else out there in the big wide world who shared the same passion as I did. This in turn led me to seek out possible venues playing the kind of music I adored. But despite living just outside of Birmingham there was nothing happening locally. I found myself travelling to London to get my ‘fix’. As this was a logistical nightmare I started to look into a possible cheaper radio ‘fix’… surely there must be something happening? Actually I found much to my disappointment, very little or many dead links of now defunct shows. Well I decided I then only had one choice, to put on the sort of radio show that I would love to tune into myself and hopefully so would others.

Well here we are with the finished product. The Good Man’s Radio Show.

I hope you find yourself awfully glad that you stopped by my little bubble of joy and I am able to spread at least a little of the joy I feel myself when I listen to my music. If I can spread the word of all these (sometimes) forgotten gems and start a whole new generation of people looking to explore the possibility that music doesn’t have to be dull and lazy, which I tend to feel an awful lot is now sadly, then so much the better. Thanks for tuning in folks, enjoy the trip. .LemmyX

TSORR is the place to pick up on something you like and then follow up and delve deeper into a band or song that struck a sweet chord with you. The show is always trying to bring you, in Bowie’s words, that “One damn song that can make me break down and cry”. Witch Hunt – history told in music, sound, and story

Witch Hunt – history told in music, sound, and story

    by

    Since Sep 29, 2020 22:00 UTC

The history of the 1692 Salem Witch Trials told through music and story-telling in a format recalling an old time radio drama with a modern experimental prog-rock twist. Witch Hunt borrows freely from original sources of information from the time of the trials such as letters, books, poems, transcriptions of the trials themselves, as well as melodies from the Puritan hymn books. The music is highly original art-rock ranging from soft ambient soundscapes to heavy power riffs with many other stops along the way. The narrator provides a story teller voice that weaves a historical thread throughout each episode. Witch Hunt is conceived, written, and produced by Brian O’Connell, who records and produces the show, playing a wide variety of instruments and voice parts. O’Connell is a well known bassist and composer in New England who has performed with: Arukah, Dead Man’s Waltz, Uncle Sammy, Gordon Stone, Gary Backstrom, Dave Brunyak, Interminable, and many others. In 2012 Brian debuted his rock opera Over The Line, a Jungian journey through modern consciousness, for a successful series of performances in Boston. Brian O’Connell – voice, 6 and 12 string guitars, fretted and fretless bass, upright bass, touch guitar, sintir, keyboards, moog synth, percussion Mike Harmon – drums, cymbals, percussion Rachel Koppelman – accordion www.brianvoconnell.com

    Murphy’s Saloon Blues Podcast

    Murphy’s Saloon Blues Podcast

    by

    Since Oct 22, 2005 00:50 UTC

Murphy’s Saloon, Podcast Home of the Blues, serves up the very best podsafe blues and blues rock, from both signed and indie blues artists.

As you visit all the show notes below, you’ll find the vast majority of the links are broken.

For the most part, that comes from the sheer age of the links and the fact that many of the linked record labels or other music sources are defunct.

But I’ve always thought of Murphy’s Saloon listeners as a resourceful bunch, so if you hear an artist you like, I’m sure you can hunt them down.

    Cheers!
