SnarkNotes is a classic “Keli-Alice mess around” where literary analysis meets pop culture references with a side of snark and a bottle of wine. Since the beginning of their friendship, Keli and Alice have found themselves off in the corner of every movie or wine night intensely discussing a random topic that no one else seems to care about. SnarkNotes was born when they decided to foist their literature and pop culture related ramblings onto the world. So please enjoy this monthly podcast where the hosts discuss everything from the merits of a socially awkward Mr. Darcy to why finding a boyfriend with a crow-and-smoke aesthetic is so difficult. Topics will range from literature to television to movies, but the nerdiness and sarcasm will be constant. Spoilers abound! The time has come to talk about You. (Not you, specifically. Sorry! But You the little-watched Liftetime series turned Netflix hit.) Over the course of two seasons, You has crafted a fascinating phycological thriller that turns the typical boy meets girl romance on its head. Join Keli and Alice as they talk about all the things that make this show compelling, including Penn Badgley’s willingness to lean into his Gossip Girl roots, and his refusal to let the internet romanticize his character.

Welcome to Sweet But Salty 🖤 The bliss point of podcasts hosted by katarina vila (that’s me), pro word-player, aesthete and defluencer in the making. The title is literally what you get — the right amount of unfiltered sarcasm, deep talks, artsy and scientific smattering, awkwardly funny stories, and things I’ve learned… or not. I don’t sugarcoat things, I add salt to them 🖤

Are you ever worried that you, or someone you love, might be a dick? At Not Everyone’s Cup of Tea, we’ll identify and (over)analyze the current social issue of douchebaggery and how you may be affected, or guilty! We understand how the world “should” operate; and we will interpret that societal contract, (perhaps focusing on the wrong part) and even read the fine print for you. Consider this an ongoing PSA from unqualified experts on the questionable behavior of jerks, peppered with witty observations, irreverent jokes, social commentary, and maybe some pet stories too. Check out noteveryonescuptea.com for more info!

He’s quickly becoming the Lewis Black of Parkinson’s Disease. In a series of hilarious essays, Bill Schmalfeldt (author of “No Doorway Wide Enough”, also on Podiobooks) lashes out at Parkinson’s Disease “and the other things that annoy me.” Recorded at his kitchen table, you can hear life going on in the background as Bill talks about stupid studies that prove things that anyone with common sense should know (“Parkies who drool are embarrassed by it! It’s SCIENCE!”), his own declining cognitive status (“Pills don’t work… unless you TAKE them!”), the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s (“I think the thing to do is take some daily Metamucil to make a poop that doesn’t have to fight its way out every morning like the Incredible Hulk busting out of a police station.”), why he had to quit drinking (“One of the pills I take said alcohol could cause the adverse side effect of death.”), and a lot about the weird dreams that are caused by the disease and the medication he takes for the disease. Oh, and he’s not much of a “Tea Party” fan, either. Bill cautions in the foreword of the book, if you find yourself LEARNING something or feeling sorry for him, put the book down immediately! That’s not what he wrote it for. He wrote it to fight back against the disease and to give you something to laugh about. “PD can’t affect the human spirit — unless you let it! And who doesn’t enjoy a funny book about disease?” “You Never Miss the Dopamine (until the brain runs dry)” is available in paperback, eBook and Kindle through his blog — http://parkinsondiary.com — and like his PREVIOUS books about Parkinson’s, 100% of the author proceeds will be given to the National Parkinson Foundation and the Charles DBS Research Fund at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
