An audiobook / podcast novel…. There is a killer on the loose, and the victims have all been found in the vicinity of Commercial Street; an otherwise quiet boulevard in the middle of the business district of a small town. The victims have been largely disembowelled, leading the local press to bestow the nickname of “the Ripper” upon the killer. All eyes are peeled for a man capable of such heinous crimes…most probably a mean spirited, cold hearted brute. I’m a wife, mother, grandmother AND have lived with BPD for my entire life. I’ve been ashamed of this & kept it as hidden as possible. I’ve just come out of the Mental Health closet & am taking responsibility for my recovery & accountability for my past behaviours. I want it fixed. I’m not talking about coping skills, I’m talking about digging down to the root cause and adjusting the distorted core belief that “MY FEELINGS ARE IRRELEVANT & SHAMEFUL, DEVOID OF WORTH & THEREFORE SO AM I MYSELF”. I was a morbidly obese heart surgeon.

Throughout high school, college, med school and surgical training, I followed the U.S. dietary guidelines for both diet and exercise.

Yet nothing I did kept the weight off. I just kept getting bigger and bigger.

Each day in the operating theater I would split open the chests of people just like me. I knew I was heading for the operating table myself if I didn’t find solutions that worked.

In 2016, I finally found a way to lose 100 pounds and keep it off.

Now – in addition to doing heart surgery – I work to help people just like me get healthy, lose the weight and keep it off.

I’m Dr. Philip Ovadia, the rebel M.D. and cardiac surgeon who is working to keep people off my operating table.
