A wonderfully intimate look into the life and work of India Hicks and her extraordinary family. In Season One we’re talking Movie Stars, Matadors and Maharajas as we have tea and cake with Lady Pamela, daughter of Lord and Lady Mountbatten and of course India’s much moved mum. Now in her 90s Lady Pamela’s stories will astound you; she’s first cousins with Prince Philip, travelled the world on the famous Commonwealth tour when Princess Elizabeth became Queen, befriended everyone from Grace Kelly to Gandhi and had a front row seat as her father, the last Viceroy of India, oversaw the complicated process of partition. We ask that if you have listened to this podcast would you be so kind as to consider making a donation to The Princes Trust – a charitable organisation with which India is actively involved. Many thanks. www.princes-trust.org.uk Produced by Lisa Francesca Nand and edited by Alex George.

We express gender, class, race, power and identity through what we wear and how we dress. Each article of clothing, accessory, and stylistic choice communicates how we wish to be seen, and whether we know or not, how we are seen. In Unstitched, hosts Jean and Connie will examine questions including: what is the history behind what we wear? What are the political implications? What stories do we tell?

In 2013, Atlanta-based Gospel Recording Artist Trish Standley began her media journey with an online radio show Style with Trysh. The original purpose of the show was to share styling tips with others. As an independent artist, Trish traveled to various events where she’d receive inquiries such as “Where did you get your outfit?” One who would never hoard that information Trish decided to provide that information along with the boutique owners, designers and stylists she utilized. The show’s journey began on BlogTalk Radio then the show graduated to Survival Radio Network. Style with Trysh Radio Show syndicated to other online radio stations which included: Life 1500, WordRadio.com & 108 Praise Radio. The show included segments such as “What’s Happening with San” and “Martacious’ Closet.” When followers expressed that there were still struggles translating some of the information without having a visual demonstration, further changes were needed. In 2019, The Style with Trysh Show decided to graduate from radio to television. They partnered with Mark Squared Studios to broadcast the “Style with Trysh TV Show ” on local Atlanta TV broadcast The AIB Network channel & streamed on Xperienc OnDemand Network where they were voted the most viewed streaming show within its first month of broadcast. Season 2 is set to air March of 2022.

What does it mean that it’s all been done before? Philip Pravda, founder and CEO of suitcafe.com having been in the retail clothing business in New York City for over 30 years changed course and went online in 2014. After having multiple luxury menswear shops on Madison and Fifth Avenue in New York City he dropped them all and brought his business to the internet. Was it a good move? How is this different than what his father, grandfather and great grandfather did generations before him in the clothing business? How has the business changed? Philip Pravda’s first episode of his podcast “It’s All Been Done Before” is actually him being interviewed only weeks ago on a local business radio show. Get to know who Philip is and what he has accomplished or not accomplished in his business career. How many people think that their idea cannot move forward because it’s already been done? Well, that may be so, but you could always find a route to do it differently or do it better in some way. As Philip says in this interview, he is in the same business as his ancestors, but he is doing it his way. Now that you have had a chance to get to know Phil, future episodes will be interviews and discussions with many of his friends, colleagues and customers from all walks of life and with different experiences in their work and family life. Learn how many of them got started and what changed and why. How they saw an opportunity or lost an opportunity for thinking it had already been done before. What gave them the spark to do it differently to overcome that feeling the task is too big. You may just see how you can create something and do it better or differently than what has already been done.Reach out: Phil Pravda’s social media:Insta: @suitcafeYouTube: @suitcafeFacebook: @suitcafecomTwitter: @philippravda @suit_cafe
