Author T.M. Camp is best known for his novels “Assam and Darjeeling” and “Matters of Mortology” but there’s over 20 years of writing squirreled away in his files. The good news is, he’s opening up his archives every few weeks to share some of these literary orphans with the rest of us.

“Assam & Darjeeling” is the story of two children who set out to rescue their dead mother from the Underworld — a nightmare place where the mythological desperately tries to keep pace with the world above. The children encounter cell-phone carrying demons, forgotten deities from defunct pantheons waiting tables, and one nasty character called Juniper who takes a particular, personal interest in their quest. A terrific story full of references to mythology, folklore, Dante’s ‘Inferno’, and classic fairy tales, “Assam & Darjeeling” follows in the tradition of writers like Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, and Philip Pullman.
