The autobiographical work “Fear of Failure” documents the life and times of James Aarons, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. It is a bold, uncensored look at the struggles of a young man looking for fulfillment in his profession and love in his life. Dr. Aarons pulls no punches and makes no excuses as he charmingly writes his way through his life’s journey. It is an effort that took great courage to write, and took even greater courage for his wife to permit him to do so. Most of all, this book is full of hope. The author’s self-disclosure is at once heartbreaking and enlightening, honest and innocent, with an eagerness to face headlong difficult and often painful truths. It is a memoir and an expose that is captivating and very hard to put down until you finish.

Riveting Reads takes one audiobook every season from some of your favorite authors and highlights the story by delivering it in a serialized podcast format. Each season features bonus content never before available and an Author Insights section at the end of each episode where you hear about that chapter directly from the book’s author. Season 1 features Insomnia by J.R. Johansson – “It’s been four years since I slept, and I suspect it is killing me.” Instead of sleeping, Parker Chipp spends each night trapped in the dream of the last person he’s made eye contact with. Every night he is crushed by other people’s fear and pain, by their disturbing secrets–and Parker can never have dreams of his own. The severe exhaustion from his brain never truly sleeping is crippling him. If nothing changes, Parker could soon be facing the real life nightmares of psychosis and even death. Then he meets Mia. Her dreams, calm and beautifully uncomplicated, allow him blissful rest that is utterly addictive. There is no denying how badly Parker needs it. When he starts going to bizarre lengths to catch Mia’s eye every day, everyone at school thinks he’s gone over the edge, even his best friend. And when Mia is threatened by a true stalker, everyone thinks it’s Parker. Suffering blackouts, Parker begins to wonder if he is turning into someone dangerous. What if the monster stalking Mia is him after all? Go to J.R. Johansson’s website for links to purchase the paperback or full audiobook versions of Insomnia here: http://www.jrjohansson.com/insomnia/ . If you’d like to support this podcast, please consider joining our email list . Riveting Reads is created by Midnight Media and J.R. Johansson and produced by Parker Rose. Narration by Roy Samuelson with intros and outtros by Matt Paton. Podcast art by Melissa Williams Design.

My name is Christina, and I’m a Certified Professional Life Coach in Singapore trained in various psychological coaching strategies. Before I turned my life around, I was a troubled young woman who faced many challenges, including peer pressure, school bullying, eating disorders, low self-esteem, and a feeling that I didn’t belong. I learned many valuable life lessons in my transformation journey, and my goal is to share my experiences, thoughts, and knowledge through this podcast to help someone going through a similar experience I had in the past to overcome their challenges.

A short form spinoff of The White Book where we discuss topics relevant to the A Game of Thrones LCG.
I love my life. Becoming a wife/mother has been the absolute second best part of my life. (My faith life is first, sorry, husband and kids.) I have eight kids, yes, EIGHT. And yes, we are Catholic. People always ask if having a big family has been crazy, chaotic, or difficult. Well, yes, of course. But those things no longer concern me. What concerns me is how every single person in our culture, including myself, my husband and our children, has been tempted away from their best self. Going along with our culture is not living. Nor is it life-giving. I am too old to pretend that I have it all together. I am (finally) too wise to think I can do it all myself. That’s what “The Parenting Dare” is about: entering into the messy, the nitty, the gritty, and the beautiful. It’s about surrendering what we thought our family life would be like so we could receive the higher gifts that God has prepared for us. Some of those gifts are about becoming and being: JOYFUL PROACTIVE AUTHENTIC INTENTIONAL ACCEPTING FAITHFUL DARING Most of these podcasts will also posted in normal blog (with pictures!) format found at www.theparentingdare.com/blog. Please follow us on either platform! I say “US” because my oldest son Eric is my partner on this mission He is the tech side of this whole operation. If you ever hear a voice in the background, it is his. What surprises me most about this particular kid of mine: he can write. He has an engineering degree AND he can write. Weird, I know. He will guest blog/podcast occasionally, so you can look forward to his unique perspective. Eric is always pushing me out of my comfort zone and he is the one that suggested I move my beloved three-year old blog, “Prayer and Duct Tape” to The Parenting Dare site AND create a podcast to go with it. At first I thought he was delusional. But over time, I realized that playing small (even though it was nice and safe and warm and yummy) was not really serving God in this realm. Learn more about our mission. It’s a big one. If you love it, share it. Thank you for your beautiful support. We appreciate you.
