Real stories, real people. This one-hour storytelling program is filled with true-life adventures of people past and present from Jonesborough, Tennessee, and the surrounding Southern Appalachian Region. Each program presents stories built around a common theme. All of these stories, which are collected from the hills and hollers, and sometimes up in the Mountains of East Tennessee, are scripted into a show that explores the culture, heritage, and history of these diverse voices. Home to the town of the first Abolitionist Newspaper in the Country. Home to the state that made Women’s Suffrage a reality. Home to Warner Institute, training Freedmen and Women as teachers beginning less than a decade after the end of the Civil War. Surprising, heartwarming, and often hilarious stories of the independent East Tennessee people come to life in this podcast with a voice and accent that can be found nowhere else. Sponsored by: The Tennessee Arts Commission, WETS 89.5 FM, The Town of Jonesborough, The McKinney Center, The Wild Women of Jonesborough, Main Street Cafe and Catering, Nancy Hope and Odie Major

Feeling Your Oats : FAMILY with a HISTORY of Drama

Feeling Your Oats : FAMILY with a HISTORY of Drama

    by

    Since Aug 25, 2021 00:00 UTC

Whether it’s great lives or great tragedies, or just showing up for the adventure, history that is told without being felt is minimized. Like food that is eaten without being tasted. What’s the point? Tell the stories. Feel the people. Learn the lessons. Be a better you because of them. Don’t keep reinventing the wheel. Will you get some of the story wrong? Yes. Will the size of the fish increase each time? Probably. Will there be a different perspective? Of course. So what. When we stand on the shoulders of the past we can see with greater clarity into our future. True stories, well told, can inspire, caution, entertain, and instruct. If you judge the Yesterdays of history by today’s standards, then you deserve the same. If you erase it, you will repeat it.

    Reformed N’ Reel

    Reformed N’ Reel

    by

    Since Nov 20, 2025 21:00 UTC

Reformed N’ Reel is a weekly conversation bringing together voices from every corner of the community to talk about corrections, reentry, and reform in Idaho’s prison system.

Hosted by Mario Hernandez, a formerly incarcerated and fully reformed individual who now leads a reentry-focused nonprofit called Learning How 2 Live, and Wayne Birt, Program Director and Production Manager of Radio Boise. Wayne brings the perspective of an average citizen, and considers himself a curious moderator seeking to understand the system from the outside looking in.

Together, Mario and Wayne sit down and talk with a wide range of guests: formerly incarcerated people, social justice advocates, charity foundation leaders, and even directors from the Idaho Department of Correction.

Reformed N’ Real brings all different perspectives together to better understand the correctional system and how it affects us all.

    No Holds Barred Interviews

    No Holds Barred Interviews

    by

    Since May 24, 2021 17:25 UTC

Welcome to No Holds Barred. This is the first series of conversations I’ve had with ordinary people who have lived extraordinary lives. I started recording these podcasts way back in March 2020, just after the first lock down happened. Some of the conversations you hear will be a snap shot of the time, specially the episodes where I spoke with nurses that worked directly on COVID wards during the first and second waves of the virus, or BLM movements, and other conversations are more ever green, like the podcast with adult film star Shona Rivers, or Mustafa who was on the tube train that was blown up on the London bombings in 2007.Whatever your interests there will be something the twenty odd conversations that you will find interesting. If you enjoy any of it please share with people you know.

    Diary, She Wrote

    Diary, She Wrote

    by

    Since Jan 28, 2020 18:11 UTC

“The millennial Bridget Jones. The new voice of a generation.” Grazia UK. A raw, relatable and binge-worthy storytelling podcast made from over 10,000 intimate diary entries. Listen to Liz Beardsell share vulnerable and unapologetically honest true stories about the complexities of sex, modern dating and relationships. The podcast is made up of 3 series in total and listeners are encouraged to start listening from the beginning, from Series 1, Episode 1 – Dexter Turner where the story begins. Winner of the “Moment of Raw Emotion” at the International Women’s Podcast Awards 2021.

If you’ve listened to the other 23 episodes of Diary, She Wrote, you may have picked up on some of my insecurities. These mainly centre around not feeling intelligent enough and not talking enough in social situations. After a therapy session and with the therapists comments in mind I read back over my time at school and it became obvious how year after year my school’s class rating system and some teachers’ comments were no doubt partly responsible for installing my perception of my intelligence which in turn impacts my confidence when it comes to talking up in social situations. I had been aware of my insecurities all my life but they only really started to surface and to become a hindrance in my mid 30’s, so in order to try and figure out how to better deal with them I went to see said therapist.

    Key Characters:

Rowan – One of my best mates who I met in my single years

Flossie, Ryan, Nina & Cara – London friends

    Paula – My therapist

Dan – My ex boyfriend who I spent 11 years with from 2001 – 2012

    Eric – A guy I dated

Diary, She Wrote was produced by Liz Beardsell in partnership with Bird Lime Media with original music by Ethan Illingworth and artwork by Robbie Porter.
