Talk It Over
John The Baptist
Hey parents! Use these questions as a guide to talk over this week’s lesson, John the Baptist, with your child after they’ve watched the video service!
– What was your favorite part of the video we just watched? Do you have any questions about what you saw?
– What happened when John the Baptist was near Jesus in his mother’s belly?
He leapt in his mother’s womb knowing Mary was pregnant with Jesus! He knew Jesus was special before he was even born.
– What was John the Baptist’s job?
He helped people start their adventure with Jesus by telling others about Jesus and baptizing them.
– What are some ways you can prepare for your adventure with Jesus?
You can pray and talk to Jesus about what it means to follow him – the first step on your adventure with Jesus is choosing to believe in Jesus and follow him! You can read the Bible to learn more about him. You can ask questions to your family, leaders at church, or other safe adults. You can start thinking about getting baptized yourself and what that means!
– What is baptism?
Baptism is the way we show others we believe in Jesus. By going under the water and coming back up, you are showing others that you are saying goodbye to living life your way, and you are starting a new life for Jesus! Get more info on kid’s baptism at saddlebackkids.com/leading-my-kid/. Spend a few minutes talking with your child about baptism. See if they have any questions about it. If you are baptized, share that experience with them – what it was like and what it meant to you on your adventure with Jesus.

Old movies. New opinions.
Ever since our kids were little, we’ve made family movie nights a tradition, and with our son Max recently turning 12—such a classic coming-of-age year—we started to reflect on the movies that shaped us most at that age, and how they still stick with us today. We realized there’s something magical about being 12: you’re old enough to really see yourself on the screen, but still wide-eyed enough for anything to feel possible.
On each episode of the Back In My Day Pod, we’ll be discussing two movies. They will usually be films that came out when we were Max’s age—sometimes a timeless favorite, sometimes a forgotten gem. Sometimes Max will pick a movie he’s loving. And you never know what Zach, our energetic 9-year-old and self-appointed “mascot,” will bring to the table—besides his running color commentary!
The Back In My Day team consists of: Meghan Graham, Maxwell Graham, Zachary Graham, and Mark Graham.
