The 27 Club has become one of the most elusive and remarkably tragic coincidences in rock & roll history. The term became widely known after Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994, with rock fans connecting his age to that of Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones and Jimi Hendrix – though it was notable to fans in the early 1970s when those four visionaries died within just two years of each other. When Amy Winehouse passed away at age 27 in 2011, it attracted even more attention to the significance of the age. While the club has been largely connected to musicians, it has expanded since, as many young actors and artists have lost their lives due to everything from addiction to suicide to freak accidents.

The delightfully eccentric Doctor Dolittle, rendered immortal on screen by the gifted Rex Harrison, has remained a firm favorite with generations of children ever since he made his debut in an earlier novel, The Story of Doctor Dolittle. In his second outing titledThe Voyages of Doctor Dolittle, the maverick physician takes on a new assistant, Tommy Stubbins. The story is structured as a first person account given by Tommy, who is now a very old man. The boy who was the son of the village cobbler first meets Doctor Dolittle when he takes a hurt squirrel to the doctor for treatment. Tommy and the doctor quickly become friends, and the boy soon learns how to communicate with animals in their own languages. The remarkable talking parrot, Polynesia and other amazing creatures from the previous book also appear in this sequel. The mysterious disappearance of a friend of the doctor’s called Luke the Hermit sets off a train of strange events. And Tommy finds himself accompanying the good doctor on an exciting, hazardous voyage to find Long Arrow, a native American and the son of Golden Arrow, who is reputed to be the greatest living naturalist in the world. The kind hearted, quirky, animal rights activist Doctor Dolittle dominates the plot. His enduring humanitarian approach to the world around him, his desire for peaceful coexistence among all and his concern for the environment make him a memorable and endearing character. This as much an adventure story as a strong appeal for compassion towards the innumerable species that share our planet with us. There are shipwrecks, South American and Mediterranean locations, underwater explorations where they discover a giant sea snail and wonderful descriptions of land and sea. Critics of Hugo Lofting’s work point out that there are several passages which are now politically incorrect. However, readers would do well to remember that these books were written more than a hundred years ago, when attitudes to colonization and race were quite different. In the dozen or so books featuring Doctor Dolittle, the author Hugo Lofting ensures that a wide variety of themes, locations and ideas are explored. The books were originally illustrated by the author himself, as he was a talented artist and naturalist himself.

This program is my personal journey to breaking the life cycle you were born into to the life you choose for yourself. I overcame sexual abuse, growing up extremely poor (raised on welfare) with a single mom of 4 kids in a rural small town. I raised my siblings from 8 years old with an alcoholic parent trying to stay sober. I worked since I was eight years old, was on the verge of a nervous break down at 15. I made the heart breaking decision to preserve my sanity. I ended up moving in with a religious family at 15. This came as a bitter-sweet situation. I finally moved out on my very own and started finally my life, my way, my control. This was the beginning to the life I wanted and deserved. I had a “normal” life for while finally. Then I lost some key people in my finally amazing life. My whole world took a brutal turn. This came with even more brutal emotion distress. This was the beginning of my event I can only describe as a nervous break down. I tried so hard to be stronger than my body could take but I had met my limits physically and mentally. This is where I learned the hard reality that I can’t take everything life throws me. I learned about what a narcissist was and how I had to set boundaries for my own self preservation. I want to share what I have had to learn the hard way so hopefully others will know it can be done. I also would love for people to know to set up boundaries sooner than I did. I always took pride in trying to learn life management by others “life lessons”. I thought I was invincible on the crap life can throw me. “ I can take it” is my personal mantra I would tell my inner self, I learned the hard way I do have a limit on what my body can physically and mentally take to my disappointment. I guess I am only human. That sucks !!!! But it is my heartbreaking reality… that I am NOT invincible. I came from nothing and had every reason and opportunity to be a pregnant young teen with limited life options. I could have easily repeated the childhood cycle that many fall victim to. Instead, I became a survivor and took my life by the balls and said, “Listen bitch I’m speaking”. In a nice way. Lol. We are our life choices no matter our circumstances. I am now happily married to my high school sweetheart, and we have two wonderful boys. My husband and I have been together for 30 years (and still like each other). Trust me, I want to kill him at times, but I think that is the sign of a healthy relationship. If you don’t want to invoke harm (metaphorically) on your spouse here and there, then you don’t care. Then you are just existing together in a house. This channel and podcast is how not to be a victim. Overcome the shit life throws you and shine like a diamond, inside and out. If you want to know how to do this in a positive, constructive, and sassy yet classy way, tune in. I am happy to share what I have learned.
