Harris became fascinated by synaesthesia and face blindness (also known as prosopagnosia) after writing an article on the subject in her day job as a journalist, later going on to write about both conditions in her debut adult novel, The Colour of Bee Larkham’s Murder, in which her protagonist is the only witness to a murder – but can’t recognise the murderer’s face.
