The extraordinary child-adult Prince Myshkin, confined for several years in a Swiss sanatorium suffering from severe epilepsy, returns to Russia to claim his inheritance and to find a place in healthy human society. The teeming St Petersburg community he enters is far from receptive to an innocent like himself, despite some early successes and relentless pursuit by grotesque fortune-hunters. His naive gaucheries give rise to extreme reactions among his new acquaintance, ranging from anguished protectiveness to mockery and contempt. But even before reaching the city, during the memorable train journey that opens the novel, he has encountered the demonic Rogozhin, the son of a wealthy merchant – who is in thrall to the equally doomed Nastasia Filippovna: beautiful, capricious and destructively neurotic, she joins with the two weirdly contrasted men in a spiralling dance of death…

We like to spend our time creating all sorts of lovely, sleepy, soothing, snoozy content just for you. Our originally crafted bedtime stories echo the twirling, whirling, falling, floating sensation of a waking dream, with a focus on sights, sounds and textures. Our guided evening meditations are delivered to you by a host of narrators with voices akin to buckets of syrupy gravy, if that’s your thing, and who doesn’t like syrupy gravy? So turn off the lights, get cosy, it’s time to unwind…

As Riddick returns to theaters in September, 2013 the Now Playing hosts watch and review all three films: Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Riddick. A group of space travelers crash land on a deserted planet populated with carnivorous alien monsters. But perhaps even more dangerous to the survivors is Richard B. Riddick – an escaped convict with a high body count in his history. Riddick was actor Vin Diesel’s star-making role, but does Pitch Black stand up to the Now Playing reviewers’ spotlight? Listen to find out!

I’ve always loved music (who doesn’t?!) and during the peak lockdown of early the Covid Times™ I got guilelessly and guiltlessly into the random “30-day music challenge” choices that friends, family, and faceless internet chums were posting.
I wanted to hear more about what they chose and why… and I really wanted to have something I could talk about on Zoom calls that would actually be worth the oxygen (memes are no fun when you talk about them!)
And lo, a podcast was born. Ta-da!

Dan Ruff, S.J. is a Jesuit Catholic priest working in Campus Ministry at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Through this podcast, Fr. Ruff shares his thoughts on searching for meaning and hope in a world that, at times, seems to lack both. With a Doctorate in Liturgy, a love of storytelling, and a passion for the performing arts, Fr. Ruff wishes to show that spirituality is a noble pursuit welcome to people of all walks of life—you just have to be willing to ask the big questions and search for satisfying answers. This podcast is not only for Catholics and the Jesuit-educated but for all those searching for answers. As Jesus says when he heals the ten lepers, Fr. Ruff echoes: “Where are the other nine?”
