Two unlikely friends came together and found that even though they have polar opposite belief systems they actually like each other. The former Christian, Aubrie asked Kathleen, a known atheist to join her in a fun podcast idea. Through the years of producing content, they’ve found their groove with sharing stories, having authors on, and exploring different belief systems together. There is a fun aspect with the Morning Shows that shares our lives and in season 2 we added Mormon topics because Kathleen grew up Mormon and she tells us everything we wanted to know and didn’t know we needed. Episode 692 – Dangers of Envy

    #knowTroy #DWUpodcast #envy #covet

Social media brings constant comparisons in our lives doesn’t it. A Facebook post might read, “happy birthday to my fantastic husband of five years because he is so great and yada, yada, yada.” That’s cool and all I must ask would it be less cool if she told her husband that directly (gasp) without any of us knowing about it?

One person does it then someone else sees it and thinks, “Oh, I have to do something like that.” That’s a form of Envy.

Envy is defined as a feeling of discontentment or resentful longing aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities or luck (don’t believe in luck so let’s change that to opportunities).

I like how Craig Groeschel describes envy in his book #struggles:

Envy is wildfire, always consuming and never quenched. It is demonic. Envy is resenting God’s goodness in other people lives and ignoring God’s goodness in your life.

Does that hit home for you like it did for me? Envy is resenting God’s goodness in other people’s lives.

When was the last time you celebrated a friend’s success? Truly celebrated? Not the inauthentic where you think their accomplish isn’t fair and when will you get yours. I’m talking about feeling overjoyed for their opportunity, possession, or quality.

When you do feel overjoyed for them, let them know . . .quietly . . . not on social media for the world to see. Just one-to-one which has a much greater impact anyway.

Mission Log is a Roddenberry Entertainment podcast with the sole purpose of exploring the Star Trek universe one episode at a time. That’s right, this podcast will cover six different series and 30 seasons of television by journeying into every one of the 726 episodes with a single mission: to explore, debate and discuss one of the largest science fiction phenomena of all time, Star Trek. Starting with The Original Series’ initial pilot and continuing chronologically until we reach the last episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, each week our hosts will tackle a single episode, delving into the most historical and hysterical science fiction that Star Trek has to offer. Along with a variety of guests and interviews, Mission Log will attempt to reach Star Trek’s ethical subtext, understand it’s complex metaphors and finally figure out what was the trouble with those tribbles. Explore strange new details. Seek out new perspectives; deeper understandings. Boldly go where so many of us love to go, again and again. Join us for Mission Log!

After London, or Wild England by Richard Jefferies

After London, or Wild England by Richard Jefferies

    by

    Since Dec 1, 2023 00:00 UTC

First published in 1885, After London, or Wild England is considered to be one of the earliest instances of post-apocalyptic fiction, describing the effects of an unspecified catastrophe that dramatically changes the face of England and its population. Divided into two parts, the first depicts the fall of civilization, as society reverts to its more primitive roots, while the second part is set years after the apocalyptic event and examines the evident changes in both natural scenery and social structure. In addition, Jefferies offers a remarkable portrait of the natural world with his colorful imagery and evocative descriptions, which highlight his enthusiasm and devotion to nature. The first part of the novel begins with Jefferies’ description of a mysterious natural disaster that has taken its toll on England, and later goes on to provide a detailed account of the resurgence of nature in the aftermath of the dire calamity. Although the source of the disaster is not clearly distinguished, its effects on society and nature are immense, as the area has been substantially depopulated and engulfed by a newly formed lake. Slowly covering any traces of the industrial world, the land welcomes the return of wildlife to its unspoiled state, as trees, flowers, and plants begin to take over the area, while animals return to their feral states. Furthermore, the society that has remained reverts to its medieval roots, divided into tribal groups and a somewhat educated class. Subsequently, the novel shifts its focus to Felix Aquila, a dignified young man who sets out on a dangerous adventure, exploring the mystifying wilderness. In addition, Felix must face numerous predicaments along the way that test his durability and fortitude. Presenting a unique take on a post-apocalyptic world, with a generous supply of botanical detail, After London, or Wild England served as an inspiration for many writers to follow in Jefferies’ footsteps and make a contribution to the post-apocalyptic genre. Interestingly, Jefferies effectively employs nature as the dominant feature in the novel, emphasizing its presence and influence in an altered landscape. Painting a vivid illustration of unspoiled nature and illustrating the gripping notion of natural reversion and the downfall of civilization, the novel is a sure to enthrall nature enthusiasts.
