    Journeys in Youth Development

    Journeys in Youth Development

    by

    Since Nov 29, 2022 05:00 UTC

Youth work is a sacred opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children and youth. In a new publication from Information Age Publishing (IAP), curated and edited by the National Institute on Out-of-School Time (NIOST), personal narratives written by youth workers shine a light on the intricate connections between research and practice, touching upon both the vulnerability and triumph of youth development work. In this podcast series, youth workers read excerpts from their essays, and share how youth workers’ lived experiences inspire the ability to build the relationships that are the foundation of positive and healthy youth development. From relationships comes engagement, and from engagement, transformation—centered in equity, inclusion, and belonging. No one is better able to advocate for these truths than the professionals who found themselves—by whatever means—working with young people to bring positive change to their lives, their communities, and our world. The Heartbeat of the Youth Development Field: Professional Journeys of Growth, Connection, and Transformation is now available. Order copies for your organization today!

    Talkenomics – FOX News Radio

    Since May 24, 2016 16:35 UTC

Capitalism is dangerous and makes people suffer according to The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) who say they are out to upset the status quo. National DSA Director Maria Svart sat down with FOX Business Correspondent Adam Shapiro to explain the DSA’s short and long-term goals, which some people will find troubling but others embrace. The D-S-A says it has 48,000 members. Their core principle rejects an international economic order sustained by private profit. Asked to explain what that means Svart said, “In the long term we want a society where workers control things.” When asked if that meant eliminating private ownership of business Svart responded, “If that’s what the voters wanted eventually I think you are talking about a utopian vision which is certainly our vision in the long term but it’s not something I anticipate happening anytime soon.” Svart lays bare the ultimate goals of the Democratic Socialists such as limiting the ownership of private property, nationalizing healthcare and pushing the Democratic Party further to the left.
