We need Self-Direction independent of Self-Deprivation if we want to know Self Love. ►THE CONDITION OF OUR HUMAN CIVILIZATION IS SPLIT-MINDED. WE’RE ONE FAMILY LOST IN OUR OWN SELF-INFLATED MAKE BELIEVE WORLDS WHILE WE DESTROY THE REAL ONE. There are better things out there than protecting self-Concept, especially if it clouds pure imagination & open connection to life. ►When we’re brought into immediate intimacy with our deepest fears we can’t condemn them without condemning the fact that we’re alive. Fear isn’t shameful & listening to fear isn’t to live at the mercy of fear-just the opposite. ►SELF TRUST is the assured reliance on your own CHARACTER, ABILITY, STRENGTH, & TRUTH. The cost of shaping ourselves to desires, preferences, & expectations of others is losing ourselves. The 2 most painful states in this universe are self-hate & self-distrust. Self-hate comes from self-distrust. Life is torture when you don’t trust yourself & without exception, people who suffer chronically, suffer because the root of dysfunction in their lives is that they don’t trust themselves.”-T. Swan ►IN TODAY’S WORLD, WE’RE NOT TRULY IN A WAR OF IDEAS (AS MUCH AS THIS APPEARS TO BE THE CASE). RATHER, WE’RE AT WAR WITH WHAT PREVENTS US FROM HAVING TRUST IN OUR OWN INNER COMPASS. Within this ability to trust is the key to unburdening the brain from Cortisol Abuse & living a truly healthy life. ►Everybody’s life depends on everybody else being by their side. Feeling the vulnerability of losing friends, family you feel such sorrow but because we’re taught to not have feelings, SHAME TENDS TO FILL THAT VOID. ►Emotions associated with trauma can be extreme. Most of us (& those close to us) recoil & attempt to repress these intense reactions. THIS MUTUAL DENIAL PREVENTS US FROM HEALING. DENIAL IS SO COMMON IN OUR CULTURE that it’s become cliché. Our brain usually refuses to do trauma reset-discharge. We’re too fearful of fierce shaking, the scary flood of natural aggression we might have to feel. We don’t know how to feel strong emotions without acting out, so we don’t want to feel. That’s why humans have trauma & wild animals usually don’t; old fight-flight stress chemicals stay frozen in our bodies. TRAUMA ISN’T WHAT HAPPENS TO US, BUT WHAT WE HOLD INSIDE IN THE ABSENCE OF AN EMPATHETIC WITNESS. Trauma is Hell On Earth, “LIVING DEATH.” ►Held within symptoms are the very energies-potentials necessary for the creative healing process. These can be blocked using drugs to suppress symptoms, overemphasizing adjustment/control, denial/invalidation. Hyperarousal: the nervous system’s accelerator::Overwhelming helplessness, dissociative symptoms: its brake (not ordinary helplessness that can affect anyone from time to time). It’s the sense of being collapsed, immobilized, utterly helpless-NOT a perception, belief, or trick of the imagination. It’s Real. In the immobility state, assertive energies are inaccessible. The restoration of healthy aggression is an essential part in recovery. Empowerment is Acceptance of Personal Authority-the capacity to choose the direction & execution of one’s energies. THIS INNER MOVEMENT TAKES PEOPLE TO A RECONNECTION WITH THE AUTHENTIC SELF, PURPOSEFUL INTENTIONALITY OF MOVEMENT THROUGH LIFE.-P.
