Short Science Fiction Collection 034 by VARIOUS

    by

    Since Jan 1, 1970 00:00 UTC

Science Fiction is speculative literature that generally explores the consequences of ideas which are roughly consistent with nature and scientific method, but are not facts of the author’s contemporary world. The stories often represent philosophical thought experiments presented in entertaining ways. Protagonists typically “think” rather than “shoot” their way out of problems, but the definition is flexible because there are no limits on an author’s imagination. The reader-selected stories presented here were written prior to 1962 and became US public domain texts when their copyrights expired. (Summary by Gregg Margarite)

    On the Shoulders of Dwarves

    On the Shoulders of Dwarves

    by

    Since Nov 6, 2017 07:23 UTC

**Feburary 2021:** Dwarves! We’re prolonging our hiatus until 2022. We hope to be able to return earlier, but things haven’t changed in our lives and until the corona epidemic is over it’s unlikely we’ll be able to go back to any routine. We’re interested in doing at least something weekly or semi-weekly, even if not a podcast – if you have any ideas, please send us! To show@dwarfcast.net What do we mean when we say rewards beyond loot? Not just money, treasure or magic items. Let’s give a few examples and it’ll be clear. ## Non loot rewards (01:24) Some examples: – Land – Titles – Association (part of a guild/group/etc) – House / Place to live – Renown – Something personal – Narrative power ## GMs – What can we do with non treasure rewards (09:33) Why should we use Rewards in our game? – Used for character development – Flash out the setting – Connect the characters to the setting – Give players a chance to expand on what interest them in the setting – Allow a sense of accomplishment without shifting game balance ## For players (13:04) Important tips: – **Use the reward**: Otherwise it is meaningless – you have a title? Use it. You have land, define it and do something with it. You are part of the stonecutters guild? Send them rock samples, keep a journal of interesting rocks you encounter, read on wikipedia about different rocks – **Signal what interest you**: signal the GM what is the reward you might enjoy getting. How? Establish it as one of your character’s goals. – **Leveraging personal items** – **Using story items:** e.g. taking a defeated enemy’s weapon ## Summary (20:12) Non loot rewards are a great way to create engagement, character development, enhance the setting and discover what is interesting for the GM and players. Consider listening to [episode 27](https://dwarves.podiant.co/e/slaps-and-bennies-episode-27-364a24326f571a/) and [episode 19](https://dwarves.podiant.co/e/customising-the-campaign-to-the-players-episode-19-36082ec3b14f62/) to rethink some ideas. * * * ## Taking the load off (22:51) **Uri**: New 5th edition game, Playtesting for “The Makabim game” **Eran**: Sentinel Comics RPG Starter Kit * * * Email us at [show@dwarfcast.net](mailto:show@dwarfcast.net) with questions, topic suggestions, and comments, and check out [our Facebook group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/dwarfpodcast). We have a [Patreon page](https://www.patreon.com/dwarfcast), in case you’d like to support us in a monetary fashion. Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard

    by

    Since Feb 12, 2020 08:30 UTC

Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.

    This Happened

    This Happened

    by

    Since Sep 29, 2018 05:18 UTC

A common response to a woman coming forward about sexual assault is no response at all. Beyond the failings of law enforcement and the court system to provide justice, it is, perhaps most painfully, family and friends that let victims down. “This Happened” is one woman’s exploration of this phenomenon. To find out why her friends and family dismissed the news that she had been sexually assaulted by someone they knew, she asks them, and records what they have to say. In this limited five part series, you’ll hear those conversations. You’ll learn why her friends did what they did. Their answers are personal and painful, but they paint a broader picture of how rape culture works, how pervasive it is, and the damage it can do.

    Since Oct 12, 2023 23:55 UTC

We have many podcasts online which are related to crime, trading, relationships, sports and what not but have you ever heard of a podcast which gives reviews on series or movies? You might have but very few of them exist. Here we are, who have come up with one such podcast which shall provide you reviews on various genres of series and movies.

One day, my friend Himanshu and I (Anuradha) were randomly talking about podcasts and realised that there are nil to a very few podcasts which are for series and movies. So we quickly thought why don’t we start a podcast which gives reviews on various genres of series and movies which help people to get to know if the series or the movie is worth the watch or not. We knew it would be difficult at first but once we go ahead, we’ll be happy with our step taken. There are many platforms which rate series and movies but sometimes they don’t satisfy the customers. So here we are, trying our best and giving you honest reviews on the series. We are, Your Daily Show.
