Achieving equality in higher education. The stakes have never been higher. The issues never more complex. Who graduates, and why? Who is getting hired as faculty and what is their experience? In each episode, we will look at issues surrounding students, faculty, diversity and inclusion, and skyrocketing college costs. From critical conversation to news, numbers, and analysis — we’ve got you covered. You can count on Diverse’s In The Margins to bring you the latest, most relevant thought leadership as it pertains to diversity, inclusion, and equity in higher education. As the national expert, we’ve been doing this for almost 40 years in print and on the web (diverseeducation.com). Now we are excited to expand the conversation via this podcast. We will tackle these topics, and more, head-on. Listen weekly for a mix of deep dives, short briefs, expert panels, interviews, and more. We are thrilled to bring it to you here, in In The Margins.

Step by Step is a creative take on providing general music teachers with tips, techniques, and all around humor for making their classrooms engaging, fun, relevant, and inclusive for all learners.
The Butcher and the Block met ten years ago in a high security Queensland prison, and between them have spent almost fifty years in some of our most notorious institutions (prisons and universities). From their earliest endeavours, creating productions of Shakespeare in the slammer, they have wilfully and cheekily been juxtaposing high and low brow. This podcast, their latest collaboration, could be called big ideas for/from ordinary people. It harkens back to a time when philosophy, politics, and metaphysics were not the sole purview of the educated elites, and brings together guests with a common core belief but different backgrounds.
Why are you here? When we take away the outward trappings of your station, occupation, and accomplishments, at your core, who are you? These are the questions the presenters ask of one another, and of their guests as they willingly place themselves between the Butcher and the Block.
There are also bawdy jokes and low-tech silly sound effects.
