Ottawa Folk Festival Robert Service Collection by SERVICE, Robert W.

Ottawa Folk Festival Robert Service Collection by SERVICE, Robert W.

    by

    Since Jan 1, 1970 00:00 UTC

On August 13-15, 2010, A hearty band of Librivox volunteers, led by Bob Ledrew and Sean McGaughey, recorded selections from the Spell of the Yukon by Robert Service with patrons, musicians and organizers of the Ottawa Folk Festival. We chose Robert Service because he is an iconic Canadian poet. It was our intention to record the whole volume, but the festival was disrupted by torrential rains on its final day. Sean McGaughey also prepared a behind the scenes podcast of this project at http://www.ductapeguy.net/2010/12/for-the-sake-of-the-song-live-from-the-ottawa-folk-festival/ (Summary by Sean McGaughey)

    Keeping Score

    by

    Since Oct 1, 2018 13:41 UTC

Go behind the scenes of classical music in Nashville. Musician Colleen Phelps takes you backstage for interviews with composers, conductors, and instrumentalists to give you an in-depth look at life in the orchestra, on the stage, and behind an instrument. Get closer to the music and musicians behind classical music in Music City.

For Nashville Symphony Principal Oboist Titus Underwood, the pandemic has been a fairly prolific time. It’s also been a successful year – with a regional Emmy Award and the Sphinx Medal of Excellence, as well as a viral sensation on YouTube. And while he looks forward to a return to the Schermerhorn stage, he also has a lot of goals for the future of orchestral music – including equity in auditions, and a new broader focus in musicians’ training.

In The Ring With Eusebius McKaiser

    by

    Since Apr 6, 2021 14:00 UTC

On In The Ring With Eusebius McKaiser I tackle all the uncomfortable topics that dominate public debate. With my reputation for fearless debate as a former World Masters Debate Champ, and a background in law and philosophy, you can expect debates on everything from whether or not it is racist for a non-black person to quote the N-word, to questions of how to tackle inequality, whether people are responsible for unconscious biases, the ethics of refusing to be vaccinated, the status of animals, debating books, and much more! The crucial differentiator of this podcast series compared to others is that it is fearless in its debate orientation, and no topic is off bounds! However, my motto is: “You are entitled to be treated with dignity …. but NOT to have your worldview affirmed!” So come with well-considered reasons for your viewpoints when you get YOUR chance to come on the platform to In The Ring With Eusebius McKaiser

Unearthing the memories and reflections of Black British film movements, co-ops and collective practices, shedding light on those who worked alone and offering space to those who have been marginalised in their field and across intersections of contemporary life. This series contributes to ‘this broken piece of yard’ a year of co-intentional programming towards an entangled communal practice initiated by Cairo Clarke, Curatorial Fellow at LUX.
