Ocean of Theosophy, The by JUDGE, William Q.

Ocean of Theosophy, The by JUDGE, William Q.

    by

    Since Jan 1, 1970 00:00 UTC

Judge wrote this book because he saw a need for a book about Theosophy that everyone could understand. Discussed are after-death states, reincarnation, karma, the pitfalls of pseudo-occultism, the 7 natures of man, cyclic evolution, sages and adepts, psychic phenomena and more. Although the book is fairly elementary it will help you in your journey, whether you are just starting out or have been at it for years. – Summary by kirk202

The Art of Public Speaking by Dale Carnegie

The Art of Public Speaking by Dale Carnegie

    by

    Since Nov 14, 2019 00:00 UTC

A great start to shaking off public speaking jitters, socializing and mastering the art of small talk. The principles of public speaking written by Dale Carnegie decades ago in this book are timeless. They are just as effective in working a crowd in today’s society as they were back then. He delves into ways of commanding and charming an audience with the right energy, tone of voice, pitch, pronunciation and vocabulary. Armed with the principles highlighted in this book, you can do more than convey a message to a group of people, you can move them. Carnegie gives useful advice and hints on public speaking stating that when you have something to say, are adequately prepared and have mastered an audience then public speaking success is eminent. He delivers a topic by topic approach offering solutions to common public speaking problems. Moreover, each chapter features practice questions and exercises to help the reader understand the subject better. By reading this book, you can acquire confidence before an audience; efficiently convey your message by inflection, change of pace, emphasis and subordination. You can learn to influence people through exposition, description, narration, suggestion, argument and persuasion. Throughout the book there are numerous quotes and references from influential individuals and institutions to emphasize the subject. The book is also riddled with numerous stories and examples to expound on the subject and to paint a picture in the reader’s mind on what constitutes an effective public speaker as well as what kind of speech is considered effective. Many people who think they are good public speakers are left in doubt after reading this book. ‘The Art of Public Speaking’ is an essential tool to help you learn to work a crowd, leave them charmed and hanging onto your every word. Real talk. Real stories. Real solutions to get estheticians and sole proprietors to six figures and beyond without burning out. Why make your own mistakes when you can learn from two solopreneurs on your journey to six figures? Skinfessional started from the idea that there needs to be more honesty about the real struggles, mistakes, and flat out failures that happen when you build a spa or salon business. 12-hour days? Non-existent self-care? Crazy barnacle clients? We’ve been there and lived to tell the tale. Everyone wants an overnight success, but the reality is that being an entrepreneur boils down to lessons learned and being persistent AF. We’re pulling back the curtain and giving you an all access pass to how this spa owner and wellness excerpt do it so you can too. Grab your journal and trusty mechanical pencil (because you want to take notes) and join Cybil Solyn and Alex Ellis as we confess all our Skinfessional secrets.

    Women As/In Art

    Women As/In Art

    by

    Since Jan 28, 2023 21:08 UTC

In Women As/In Art, artist Leah Schrager interviews creators, critics, and curators about the role of women as and/or in art in history, the contemporary gallery scene, and online. Be she model, muse, co-creator, artist, painter, performer or X, where and how do women find agency and empowerment in art? Has the place of women as and/or in art changed over time and across different media? Can a woman just be art? Drawing from her own experience as an artist whose “deceptively complex brand of feminism, expressed through the unashamed sexuality of her beautifully abstracted self portraits, makes her voice unique among new media artists” (ArtSlant, 2017), Schrager explores commercialism, sexuality, appropriation, celebrity culture, digital identity, and more through her conversations with some of the art world’s most compelling and controversial figures.

    Design Education Talks

    Design Education Talks

    by

    Since Feb 24, 2020 20:09 UTC

Since its inception in 2019, Design Education Talks podcast has served as a dynamic platform for the exchange of insights and ideas within the realm of art and design education. This initiative sprang from a culmination of nearly a decade of extensive research conducted by Lefteris Heretakis. His rich background, intertwining academia, industry, and student engagement, laid the foundation for a podcast that goes beyond the conventional boundaries of educational discourse.

At its core, the Design Education Talks podcast functions as an open forum, fostering discussions that delve into the intricate facets of art and design education, unravelling the layers of creativity, and exploring the depths of design thinking in education.

This podcast stands as a testament to my commitment to addressing the pressing challenges facing contemporary art and design education. Each episode becomes a nexus of exploration, where innovative solutions are sought and shared. The collaborative nature of these discussions reflects a commitment to bridging the gap between theory and practice, academia and industry, and tradition and innovation.

One of the podcast’s distinctive features is its role as a valuable resource for skill-building among the new generation of aspiring designers. The episodes serve as an intellectual toolbox, offering practical insights, strategies, and real-world experiences that contribute to the holistic development of creative professionals. Moreover, the podcast serves as a compass, providing clear directions for those interested in reshaping the models for teaching and learning in the dynamic field of design.

As I continue my journey through the Design Education Talks podcast, my aim remains resolute: to inspire, inform, and ignite a transformative dialogue that propels the evolution of art and design education. By fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation, I aspire to contribute to the positive growth and adaptation of educational practices, ensuring that they align seamlessly with the needs and aspirations of the ever-changing creative landscape.
