Can you tell if the following statements are common science myths or science facts?

    – Is cracking your knuckles bad for you?
    – Was Dracula a real person?
    – Can you catch a cold if you get wet in the rain?

If you are like our 10-year-old host Samarth Chitta, these questions would have popped up in your head at some point in time or another. Finding answers is simple! Tune into our bi-weekly podcast Mythbusters, where each of these myths and more is discussed in a kid-friendly manner.

Ideal for any curious child (or adult!), each episode digs deep into the science, logic, and history behind some of these myths. No fancy terms or boring lessons, the podcast contains fun facts and simple examples. Come join the Mythbusters movement and be the smartest kid around!

    Owl and the Pussy Cat

    Owl and the Pussy Cat

    by

    Since Sep 2, 2009 19:19 UTC

Thank you for visiting my podcast page! This and other NEW material is NOW available from the iTunes shop! You can easily find it by entering “Owl Cat” in the iTunes Search. The SciFi Opera is a carefully selected, hand-picked troupe of actors and musicians and children who carefully recite recipes and stuff by ancient nonsense poet Edward Lear. Their first critically acclaimed CD of the most popular work also features some orginal songs and some unashamed tributes, in the context of Lear’s work, to such popular artists as The Queen, Monty Python, Spike Milligan, Gilbert & Sullivan, Elvis Presley, Brian May, Mr Kipling and Status Quo. The inspiration for the work is that mysterious place discovered by Edward Lear which he called “The Great Gromboolian Plain” which hosts that most most famous of arborial legends: The Bong Tree. It is of course, the land to which the Owl and the Pussy Cat sailed. No live animals were injured in the recording of this CD. Unless you count the one playing the guitars who thought the headphones were a bit loud. [itunes pic]
    In love.

Epic love story of Nala & Damyanti

    by

    Since Mar 31, 2022 07:08 UTC

When Yudhishthira was spending his time in exile with his brothers and Draupadi after losing everything in gambling with the Kauravas, then one day sage Brihadashva came there. Yudhishthira, after giving due hospitality to the sage, said to him, “Maharaj! Who would be more unfortunate than me in this world, who lost everything in gambling and is now wandering here with his family in the forest.” To this, Maharishi Brihadashva said, “Dharmaraj! It is not so. I will tell you the story of King Nala.”

Maharishi Brihadashva has tried to present here the same saga that narrated to Yudhishthira about the love and separation of King Nal and Damayanti.

I attend IEP meetings for a living and you just can’t compete with that level of crazy.

Warning: I’ve been told I have a Philly accent. I don’t hear it. Also, I curse. It’s something I’m working on as far as personal development. So please don’t be put off. I’m trying.

Inspired by her own son with disabilities, Lisa Lightner is an award-winning blogger and advocate. She has previously worked for her county’s Arc and has served on the Boards of Directors for several disability organizations.

Currently, she is her county’s chairperson for the Right to Education Task Force, a federally decreed group set up in 1971 to ensure that all children in Pennsylvania had the opportunity to an education.

When not attending IEP meetings with families or lobbying in Harrisburg and DC for disability rights, she can be found on the web at her IEP advice blog, A Day in our Shoes. She is known for her practical, realistic and implementable advice for parents.

    Journeys in Youth Development

    Journeys in Youth Development

    by

    Since Nov 29, 2022 05:00 UTC

Youth work is a sacred opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children and youth. In a new publication from Information Age Publishing (IAP), curated and edited by the National Institute on Out-of-School Time (NIOST), personal narratives written by youth workers shine a light on the intricate connections between research and practice, touching upon both the vulnerability and triumph of youth development work. In this podcast series, youth workers read excerpts from their essays, and share how youth workers’ lived experiences inspire the ability to build the relationships that are the foundation of positive and healthy youth development. From relationships comes engagement, and from engagement, transformation—centered in equity, inclusion, and belonging. No one is better able to advocate for these truths than the professionals who found themselves—by whatever means—working with young people to bring positive change to their lives, their communities, and our world. The Heartbeat of the Youth Development Field: Professional Journeys of Growth, Connection, and Transformation is now available. Order copies for your organization today!
