    Intel on AI

    Intel on AI

    by

    Since Dec 6, 2018 10:26 UTC

The Intel on AI podcast features interviews with the world’s most interesting AI experts, covering a wide range of topics, including academia, applications, strategy, ethics, policy, entertainment, scientific research, and society’s future. Season 3 is hosted by Amir Khosrowshahi, Ph.D.. Amir is a Vice President at Intel Corporation, co-founder and CTO of Nervana Systems, and a visiting scholar at the Redwood Center for Theoretical Neuroscience at the University of California, Berkeley.

In this episode of Intel on AI host Amir Khosrowshahi talks with Jeff Lichtman about the evolution of technology and mammalian brains.

Jeff Lichtman is the Jeremy R. Knowles Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard. He received an AB from Bowdoin and an M.D. and Ph.D. from Washington University, where he worked for thirty years before moving to Cambridge. He is now a member of Harvard’s Center for Brain Science and director of the Lichtman Lab, which focuses on connectomics— mapping neural connections and understanding their development.

In the podcast episode Jeff talks about why researching the physical structure of brain is so important to advancing science. He goes into detail about Brainbrow—a method he and Joshua Sanes developed to illuminate and trace the “wires” (axons and dendrites) connecting neurons to each other. Amir and Jeff discuss how the academic rivalry between Santiago Ramón y Cajal and Camillo Golgi pioneered neuroscience research. Jeff describes his remarkable research taking nanometer slices of brain tissue, creating high-resolution images, and then digitally reconstructing the cells and synapses to get a more complete picture of the brain. The episode closes with Jeff and Amir discussing theories about how the human brain learns and what technologists might discover from the grand challenge of mapping the entire nervous system.

Academic research discussed in the podcast episode:

    – Principles of Neural Development
    – The reorganization of synaptic connexions in the rat submandibular ganglion during post-natal development
    – Development of the neuromuscular junction: Genetic analysis in mice
    – A technicolour approach to the connectome
    – The big data challenges of connectomics
    – Imaging Intracellular Fluorescent Proteins at Nanometer Resolution
    – Stimulated emission depletion (STED) nanoscopy of a fluorescent protein-labeled organelle inside a living cell
    – High-resolution, high-throughput imaging with a multibeam scanning electron microscope
    – Saturated Reconstruction of a Volume of Neocortex
    – A connectomic study of a petascale fragment of human cerebral cortex
    – A Canonical Microcircuit for Neocortex

    The Suburban Women Problem

    The Suburban Women Problem

    by

    Since May 3, 2021 21:00 UTC

Rachel Vindman thought she’d be a card-carrying member of the GOP forever, until President Trump called her husband a traitor. Microbiologist Jasmine Clark never dreamed of running for office, but then 2016 happened — now she’s the first Black woman ever elected to represent her suburban district. A US Air Force Veteran turned economist, Amanda Weinstein used to listen to Focus on the Family and lecture her peers about abortion until she couldn’t reconcile her faith with today’s GOP. In the most hotly contested districts in America, suburban women are breaking up with the Republican Party and remaking American politics — transforming their own lives and getting political for the first time. Each week, Rachel, Jasmine, and Amanda find out why. Want to know what’s causing the GOP’s suburban women problem? Tune in for a political journey through the minds of suburban women, brought to you every Wednesday by Red Wine & Blue. Now in Season 2!

Welcome to the Redeemed in Christ podcast, where Evangelist Reborn Russell dives into the word of God, gives a defense for the hope that is in us, and helps you to live a God filled life.I started this podcast to go over questions new Christians, atheists, or those of a false faith might have. I want to teach other Christians how I share the faith. Look at what’s going on in the world around us and how it may pertain to us Biblically. I want to help people live a God filled life in this world evermore increasingly opposed to the Christian world view and us Christians as well. I also hope to bring non-believers to repentance, belief, and trust in our redeemer the Lord Christ Jesus.
