III. SEXUAL SELECTION IN RELATION TO MAN, AND CONCLUSION. Part 3 of 3 of a book on evolutionary theory by English naturalist Charles Darwin, first published in 1871. It was Darwin’s second great book on evolutionary theory, following his 1859 work, On The Origin of Species. In The Descent of Man, Darwin applies evolutionary theory to human evolution, and details his theory of sexual selection. The book discusses many related issues, including evolutionary psychology, evolutionary ethics, differences between human races, differences between sexes, the superiority of men to women, and the relevance of the evolutionary theory to society.(Summary by Wikipedia)NOTE – In this audio version , many of Darwin’s references to his sources have been omitted. People wishing to follow-up the references will find them all given in the text version.

In the not so distant future, a visionary radio station realizes it is more fruitful to do away with music and stick to playing ads. This minor switch in radio format transforms the entire broadcasting landscape and proves their theory that content is merely filler. With the help from a zany DJ and resigned weatherman, this station takes the world by storm and ramps up their ad dollars ten-fold.

It was the deadliest string of shark attacks the world has ever seen. In 2011, sharks in Réunion, a beautiful island, way out in the Indian Ocean started biting people way more than ever before and with lunatic violence. The epidemic forced local surfers, politicians, and business owners into a proxy war with ocean lovers and conservationists worldwide, where long simmering tensions boiled over. Réunion: Shark Attacks in Paradise is the story of what happened on this beautiful island, and the astonishing human resilience in the face of lethal environmental threat in a world out of balance. You and The Internet of Things

You and The Internet of Things

    by

    Since Apr 17, 2020 17:53 UTC

We live in a time when everything is connected to everything else. From “smart” houses to “smart” cars, from cashless banking to wearable sensors new technological advances are part of what we call the “Internet of Things” and are now integrated with nearly all aspects of daily living. Even if you are not a user of the computer or the internet, you are a user of things. If you wonder what the IoT could mean for you, this podcast is your guide to understanding how these soon-to-be common technologies affect you and your family and how to use them for increased safety, security, convenience, and improved quality of life. Whether you are a mainstream user of technology, part of the sandwich generation—that is, somewhere between caring for aging parents and still supporting young people, or perhaps you are a baby boomer trying to navigate the age of the Internet of Things, let this podcast be your guide. This podcast is based on the book, You and the Internet of Things, published by Self-Counsel Press in April of 2020. It’s a practical guide to understanding and integrating the IoT into your daily life. The book launched in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic. The publisher and I agreed that this content could be useful to people who rely on the internet more than ever to stay connected, informed, and entertained during this challenging time. The podcast is our gift to you.
