    Eddie’s Birth Story

    Eddie’s Birth Story

    by

    Since Jan 27, 2020 20:15 UTC

I had dreams and prayed every night about home birth and felt God was leading me down this path. I had been in and out of more doctors offices than I could count. Trying to find the right fit. Midwives are on rotation and I kept finding myself hoping and praying to get one that believed in my beliefs. Then walked in Evelyn’s midwife that delivered Evelyn. The one person I thought could assure me going the same route would make it all ok. The answer to my prayers right? I was 22 weeks pregnant. She didn’t remember me. Not her fault-she delivers hundreds pf babies a year! But I knew right then I craved a different birthing experience. I wanted my midwife to know me and mu baby and my family. On the way out I mustered up the courage, “What are your thoughts on a homebirth?”. Half expecting her to dismiss the crazy notion. She said, “I’ve HAD 2, I think they are wonderful.”

    The Music that Speaks

    The Music that Speaks

    by

    Since Jun 14, 2020 18:34 UTC

    A podcast all about Music.

Some notes for this first episode of The Music That Speaks:

    Apologies for the background noise.

Longer versions of this episode can be found on my Patreon page:

Here is the extended version available to my VIP Patrons ($10 a month)
Here is the entire, unabridged episode available to my Distinguished Patrons ($25 a month)

“Nimrod” is the name of a hunter that appears in the Bible, and Jaeger (“Jäger”)—the last name of his dear friend who is the dedicatee of this famous variation—is also the German word for hunter; hence the title “Nimrod.”

I may have miscredited the arrangement of “Nimrod” that appears in the movie Dunkirk. Hans Zimmer is the composer of the film score, yes; however, Benjamin Wallfisch—also a film composer and frequent collaborator on some of the biggest films as an arranger, conductor, and producer—is listed as creator for that specific track (Hans as producer). As a nod to the variations form that it comes from, it is titled “Variation 15 (Dunkirk).” Have a listen on YouTube.

The piano arrangement I am playing is my own; I am reading the full score published by Novello, which is in the Public Domain. Use of this piece and all other materials follows fair use copyright laws. All ideas and synthesis are my own, unless otherwise quoted.

    A Wish for Afghanistan

    A Wish for Afghanistan

    by

    Since Aug 27, 2021 09:34 UTC

The speed of the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan in August 2021 took the world by surprise. Now there is uncertainty and fear among many Afghans – what will Taliban rule look like? What will become of their country?

The Taliban took control of Kabul just weeks before the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the event that led to the US invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001 and the Taliban’s fall. It was hoped this would be a new beginning, bringing peace to a country that had known nothing but war since the Soviets invaded 20 years earlier. After 2001, there was a new constitution and elections; women returned to parliament, girls returned to school and civil society flourished. But there was also a resurgence in violence. And now, with the last American soldier gone and the Taliban back in power, many Afghans are fearful for the future.

The BBC’s Chief International Correspondent Lyse Doucet has followed every twist and turn of the Afghan story. In this landmark series of interviews for the BBC World Service, she hears from Afghans how the last 20 years have shaped them: their dreams for a new future and their fears that the cycle of violence will never stop.

Afghans have a word which seems to capture this moment: kashke. It’s a word that conveys sadness, regret and hope, roughly translating as “if only”, which is why we’ve called this series A Wish for Afghanistan.

    The Ever Evolving Truth

    The Ever Evolving Truth

    by

    Since Sep 17, 2019 03:00 UTC

The Ever Evolving Truth is an investigative podcast series. Season 1: Is the focus a sick single mother battling cancer and abuse OR is she a two-bit scam artist who will do anything for a dollar except hold a job? Decide for yourself this season on The Ever Evolving Truth. Season 2: TEET follows the story of Anna Maciejewska, a missing Malvern, PA woman many believe was murdered by her husband. We rattle many cages and explore many theories as we seek the truth. Season 3: Was a miscalculated 2020 presentation which we have removed from our canon due to ideological, moral, and standards of quality reasons. TEET SEASON 4-EVER started June 23rd 2020. We forged a new and permanent identity with this season of reimagination. Every week we offer two episodes. The Tuesday episode is always a deep dive into a massively polarizing subject that we know our audience will find intensely fascinating. The Friday episode is an often contentious, frequently controversial, and always entertaining splash into the latest news and happenings gripping the world in this moment. TEET (The Ever Evolving Truth) is brought to you by White Horse Media Group, LLC.

    The Working Millennial

    The Working Millennial

    by

    Since Apr 26, 2020 18:00 UTC

Hey girl! My name is Grace, and I want to help you get ready (and maybe even excited?) to start your workday, return to work after a lunch break, or just get back into your regular routine after a long weekend. I want to equip young women of faith to do the Father’s business with patience, wisdom, and power. On this biweekly podcast, I’ll break down God’s Word to equip and empower you to walk into your workday ready to face spiritual battles with discernment and meet deadlines with confidence! Follow me on Instagram @idolpopnow to be notified of future episodes and see what’s been encouraging me this week! God wants to heal your heart, but you won’t receive from Him if you don’t have a relationship with Him. If you find yourself avoiding God because of pain and disappointment from other people, especially other Christians, I encourage you to shift your perspective. People are made in God’s image, not the other way around, so people should reflect God in their every day actions. The keyword here is “should.” We all know that people are imperfect, so let’s not push God away because of other people’s imperfections. Give your pain to God and press into His presence. You will find that you will be able to be a better friend, sibling, partner, etc. because you will be able to reflect the light, love, and compassion that God wants to give to you. I mention Tori Kelly’s song Psalm 42. Here’s a link to her live performance with Kirk Franklin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGgsmCEgf4w (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGgsmCEgf4w)
