The Volume Knob: The Songs that Saved Your Life

    by

    Since Jun 11, 2020 15:57 UTC

The Volume Knob is the songs that saved your life. Every Monday, host Keith Serry asks his guests to tell the story of how music changed, inspired, soothed and moved them. The result is a music show that’s less about chorus and verse and more about the ways that music makes us feel. The results are sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes side-splitting and always relatable.

    12 Minute Halacha

    12 Minute Halacha

    by

    Since May 27, 2019 12:00 UTC

We all try to dedicate time for learning Torah. Many people attend Daf Yomi, have a chavrusa, etc. Yet, most people find it difficult to learn Halacha in a consistent and clear way. We either spend too much time on one subject or try to breeze through a summary of all the laws in a few minutes. Neither of these approaches work. The concept of 12 Minute Halacha Daily (Monday through Friday) is to spend one hour a week learning Halacha from the sources all the way through the contemporary poskim and applications. This can be listened to while driving, sitting down with the sefer, or even while taking a leisurely walk. The purpose of the Shiur is to learn Halacha together without getting bogged down with many details or fancy lomdus. This way one can go through many Halachos with a deep appreciation of the sources, the rules, and see why we do what we do in our everyday lives. That is why i chose the Chayei Adam as a springboard. This podcast isn’t intended to replace the need for a Rav in one’s life. This is simply Limud Hatorah together. My hope is that we discuss some of these things by our Shabbos table and show our family that although we need to spend significant time at work, our excitement and passion is for Limud Hatorah, Avoidas hashem and Halacha. Please reach out with questions, suggestions or complaints. 12minutehalacha @gmail.com This podcast is powered for free by Torahcasts. What’s After Church

    by

    Since Feb 9, 2021 03:45 UTC

I was a pastor for 14 years. The church was great for me until it wasn’t. The church hadn’t changed, but I had. Since leaving the church, I have found that I am not alone. Leaving church does not mean abandoning God or spirituality. Many are discovering a profound experience of God separate from organized religion. What’s After Church and WhatsAfterChurch.com supports those leaving the church and provides connection and resources for those reimagining their faith for the good of all!

I want to use this podcast to provide a network of strangers who are better off being friends, after having stepped nervously and carefully into one another’s shoes.

Although currently endangered, Ladino thrives in the intersections of its many components like Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, Turkish, Greek, Italian, French, Arabic, and more. As hosts, Max and Ivy discuss themes of place, home, diaspora, linguistic and cultural transmission, and community. In each episode, they interview guests from all over the world about their relationships with Ladino.
