    Oh Here We Go

    Oh Here We Go

    by

    Since Jan 18, 2021 13:29 UTC

Oh Here We Go started as two best friends from the South who were constantly finding themselves having interesting conversations that were pushing the boundaries and widening their perspectives on life. Stephanie and Lacey are now living in Denver and Los Angeles and have found themselves saying “yes” to different opportunities. These experiences have ultimately led to exciting, and sometimes uncomfortable, situations — but, above all else, have allowed them to grow. With Stephanie being a photographer and Lacey being a content creator, the two have been combining their experiences and immersing themselves in all their curiosities of the world which has led them to where they are now. Oh Here We Go is a podcast about all the conversations you didn’t know you wanted to have. Touching on topics that range from psychedelics to pornstars, sex to religion, mental health to threesomes… Lacey and Stephanie cover it all. With all of that being said, welcome to the mutha fuckin’ podcast, y’all.

UCD Scholarcast – Series 4: Reconceiving the British Isles: The Literature of the Archipelago

UCD Scholarcast – Series 4: Reconceiving the British Isles: The Literature of the Archipelago

    by

    Since May 6, 2010 10:51 UTC

In his book, On the Shores of Politics, Jacques Ranciere argues that the Western Platonic project of utopian politics has been based upon ‘an anti-maritime polemic’. The treacherous boundaries of the political are imagined as island shores, riverbanks, and abysses. Its enemies are the mutinous waves and the drunken sailor. ‘In order to save politics’, writes Ranciere, ‘it must be pulled aground among the shepherds’. And yet, as Ranciere points out, this always entails the paradox that to found a new utopian island, safe from the perils of sailors and the sea, means crossing the sea once more.1 Margaret Cohen, in an article surveying the turn towards maritime themes in twenty-first century literary criticism, argues that literary scholars have historically fixed their gazes upon land, with an effort ‘so spectacular that it might be called hydrophasia’. But that hydrophasia appears to be ebbing, and the new attention given to the sea, as what Hester Blum calls ‘a proprioceptive point of inquiry’, in Oceanic Studies, the New Atlantic Studies, and the Archipelagic paradigm gathering strength in British and Irish Studies, promises some degree of liberation from the terra firma overdeterminations of nationalism within literary studies. Series Editor: John Brannigan. Scholarcast theme music by: Padhraic Egan, Michael Hussey and Sharon Hussey. Development: John Matthews, Brian Kelly, Vincent Hoban, Niall Watts, UCD IT Services, Media Services

A tribute to the world of myth: Ovid and Holkham Hall – for iPod/iPhone

A tribute to the world of myth: Ovid and Holkham Hall – for iPod/iPhone

    by

    Since Aug 17, 2010 13:23 UTC

How do the themes of classical mythology come to be refashioned through the ages? Holkham Hall in Norfolk, England, is the estate of an 18th century gentleman, Thomas Coke – a scholar of epic classical authors and avid collector of the cultural beauties of the past. This album offers an opportunity to explore his house and prolific art collection, including his lavishly illustrated manuscript of Ovid’s “Metamorphoses”. Ovid inspired artists ranging from 2nd century sculptors to medieval illustrators and 18th century painters to capture and interpret these age-old myths from within their own cultural context. This material forms part of The Open University course A330 Myth in the Greek and Roman worlds.
