    Feeding 10 Billion

    Feeding 10 Billion

    by

    Since Sep 9, 2019 11:18 UTC

By the year 2050 we will have 10 billion people on our planet – a sixth of whom will be in India. If we want to feed all 10 billion of us in a sustainable, healthy and just way, we need to reimagine how we source our food. Feeding ourselves cannot come at the cost of global health, worsening greenhouse gas emissions, excessive land, water and resource use, zoonotic diseases, antibiotic resistance, and needless suffering. Last season, we brought you a ringside view of the next food revolution that is rethinking the future of protein. Companies like Memphis Meats, Impossible Foods, Beyond Meat and JUST Egg had a blockbuster year making meat, eggs, and other animal-sourced foods from plants, or cells, or other ingredients that are delicious and nutritious for us, and vastly better for the planet. The Covid-19 pandemic has only made the importance of protein diversification evident. If you want to be part of the future of food and work on solutions to some of the biggest problems of our time, join the Good Food Institute’s Varun Deshpande and Ramya Ramamurthy on Season 2 of Feeding 10 Billion

    Coffee with an Indian

    Coffee with an Indian

    by

    Since May 22, 2018 13:15 UTC

Sort of like, what happens when you get overpowered by the Nevada Sun—while listening to Nuthin’ but a G Thang (on repeat)—and at the same time, listening to a heavily tattoo’d guy from HV1, intelligently-and-existentially deconstruct (and reconstruct) strange meanings of life. All from a tribal perspective. Yeah, it’s kind of like that…

    I Could Live Here

    I Could Live Here

    by

    Since Feb 5, 2019 04:56 UTC

Old houses, old histories, old friends, new takes! In each episode, a house of Notable Repute is discussed, with one amateur house enthusiast (Mindy) sharing her findings with one enthusiastic listener (Deb). From the very glamorous homes of railroad barons, to the kooky DIY efforts of those Arts and Crafters, we’ll take a peek inside them all, and ponder that singular question, “Could we live here?” We’re closing out our season with one of the most iconic buildings in New York. The Chrysler Building in midtown Manhattan was paid for and owned by Walter P. Chrysler, automobile tycoon, and designed by the avant-garde architect of the age, William Van Alen. Hey, it’s not exactly a house but it does have hubcaps as ornamentation! A sky-high Art Deco lunch club! Sneaky spires! Career-ending lawsuits! All that drama and more!

    The MacArthur Center Podcast

    The MacArthur Center Podcast

    by

    Since May 5, 2021 00:52 UTC

As The MacArthur Center for Expository Preaching at The Master’s Seminary opens its doors, season one of its flagship podcast will tell the surprising, providential, compelling story of how John MacArthur became synonymous with expository preaching. From his first sermon at Grace Community Church on February 9, 1969, through his 52 years of relentless, verse-by-verse exposition from the New Testament, John has modeled a simple idea: that the Bible is clear and the preacher’s task is to patiently explain that meaning to his audience. This documentary-style season will look at Grace Community Church, which during John’s 52-year ministry has grown from a small, nondescript church in the middle of the San Fernando Valley into one of the largest, most influential churches in the United States. These eight episodes will tell the story of John’s calling into pastoral ministry and explain why, and how, he preaches the way he does. It will also trace his involvement in controversies and look at how he preaches during cultural upheaval and personal suffering. Don’t miss season one of The MacArthur Center podcast.

    Stuff The British Stole

    Stuff The British Stole

    by

    Since Nov 12, 2020 22:00 UTC

Throughout its reign, the British Empire stole a lot of stuff. Today the Empire’s loot sits in museums, galleries, private collections and burial sites with polite plaques. But its history is often messier than the plaques suggest. In each episode of this global smash hit podcast, Walkley award-winning journalist, author and genetic potluck, Marc Fennell, takes you on the wild, evocative, sometimes funny, often tragic adventure of how these stolen treasures got to where they live today. These objects will ultimately help us see the modern world — and ourselves — in a different light. This is a co-production between the ABC and CBC Canada.
