Do people that speak English receive better opportunities in life than those who don’t? How essential is fluency in English when pursuing an occupation in the current climate? In this collection we consider these questions in developing job markets such as Malaysia and China, amongst other countries. This series of films explores the relationship between speaking the English language and establishing yourself within a successful career domestically or internationally, as well as examining the economic and social divisions that can be caused when only certain groups of people are given access to English. This material forms part of The Open University course U214 Worlds of English.

The Next Big Thing: Nanotechnology – for iPod/iPhone

How – and why – would you build a machine 10,000 times thinner than a human hair? This album features experts discussing the paradigm shift that is occurring in science. Scientists are learning to manipulate atoms on the scale of a billionth of a metre and control them to perform specific tasks. They can emulate biological and chemical systems to fabricate machines that will destroy cancer cells in the body, giving us nano-drugs of the future; and IBM is using nano-technology for information storage on a molecular scale. There are many other applications which will have a significant impact on the way we live. This album also provides an introduction to quantum computing and quantum mechanics. The material forms part of The Open University course S250 Science in context.

    The Attracting Lasting Love Podcast

    The Attracting Lasting Love Podcast

    by

    Since Apr 3, 2021 22:40 UTC

The Attracting Lasting Love Podcast is hosted by Roy Biancalana, a certified relationship coach, three-time #1 best-selling author and nationally-recognized expert in the field of attraction and conscious relationships. His podcast is devoted to supporting single people in their desire to attract a healthy, sustainable, intimate relationship. The perspective shared is a mindful or conscious perspective on life, love and the pursuit of intimacy. Roy does not focus much on telling single people where to go, how to approach or what to say to a potential partner. Rather, he focuses on helping people identify and let go of the barriers, blockages and self-sabotaging patterns that keep them single. Roy’s work and this podcast are in alignment with the advice given from the famous 13th century mystic poet, Rumi, who said, “Your task is not to seek love, but instead to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
