2022… Pixies return to the studio. This time in Guildford, Vermont to record the new album ‘Doggerel’.
In the frost bitten run-up to Christmas 2018, Pixies set about recording a new album at Dreamland Studios, near Woodstock, NY. In an unprecedented move, they recorded every waking moment in the studio and provided all areas access to local music biographer Tony Fletcher to create a ground breaking document: It’s a Pixies Podcast. Over its 12 engrossing weekly episodes, It’s a Pixies Podcast reveals why the new album sounds like a dusty book of eerie folklore tales, full of black arts, Byronesque imagery, death, and its aftermath. Beneath the Eyrie is released on September 13.

New Music Listening Club is a podcast and platform dedicated to consuming, sharing, and enjoying contemporary music. There are many musicians out there creating, performing, and presenting new music, and we want to explore this rich and varied musical community through a shared listening experience. The idea for the Club grew out of our desire to seek out and listen – really listen – to more new music and make time to talk about it with friends. With the model of a book club, each podcast episode assembles a small panel to talk about recent works they’ve enjoyed and share in their own words what makes the music so interesting and exciting. With the listening list posted before each episode, we encourage our listeners to check out the music, tune in for our friendly discussion, and continue the conversation via our social media platforms. Hello, and welcome to our podcast, which features professional artists, performers and researchers, primarily from the field of music, talking about their practice. Our idea with this series is to reach out to music students and young professionals who wish to gain more insight into the minds of established artists, teachers and researchers in order to learn more about what it takes to build an independent professional artistic practice. We are both percussionists ourselves, and approach the different areas from that perspective. Topics covered across different episodes are artistic influences, practicing and time management, creativity, composer/performer collaborations, approaches to creating and funding artistic projects, how to create an ensemble, artistic research, how one’s perspectives on the practice of music changes over time…and much more.
