    The AskHistorians Podcast

    The AskHistorians Podcast

    by

    Since Dec 20, 2013 19:48 UTC

    The AskHistorians Podcast showcases the knowledge and enthusiasm of the AskHistorians community, a forum of nearly 1.4 million history academics, professionals, amateurs, and curious onlookers. The aim is to be a resource accessible to a wide range of listeners for historical topics which so often go overlooked. Together, we have a broad array of people capable of speaking in-depth on topics that get half a page on Wikipedia, a paragraph in a high-school textbook, and not even a minute on the History channel. The podcast aims to give a voice (literally!) to those areas of history, while not neglecting the more commonly covered topics. Part of the drive behind the podcast is to be a counterpoint to other forms of popular media on history which only seem to cover the same couple of topics in the same couple of ways over and over again.

    The Scholar’s Corner

    The Scholar’s Corner

    by

    Since Oct 30, 2009 02:47 UTC

    The Scholar’s Corner is a History podcast. The show encompasses people and events that have influenced US History. Andy J Lemon and JK Hooper will use a chronological structure to teach their audience. The authors will animate each show by using their story telling abilities and vibrant personalities to bring historical events alive. Each show will feature famous quotes, art, and historical places.

    There are several figures and events that have yet to be covered in a podcast, something that has frustrated the authors. The authors started this podcast after their own frustrated attempts to download audio on US History. Their goal is to bring their audience these historical events through their own exhaustive research.

    Feel free to email us with your questions and/or comments at;

    Andy J. Lemon and J.K. Hooper discuss George Rogers Clark and the War in the West. Inspired by Lowell H. Harrison’s book, the Scholar’s Corner takes an in depth look at the role Clark played during the Revolutionary War. Clark was a skilled military leader and his use of psychological warfare has been studied by many great military leaders and historians. This podcast will cover the founding of Kentucky (as Clark is given credit for), the military campaign in Illinois, the story about the secret agent Francis Vigo, the military campaign at Vincennes Indiana in the dead of winter when the British had quartered their men, and the later years of Clark, where he is credited with founding Louisville, KY, Clarksville, IN, and Clark County Indiana.

    The Scholar’s Corner also has their first guest historian for this episode, Pamela Nolan, she is a park ranger at the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park in Vincennes. Join us as a group of historians make history by providing the first ever podcast covering George Rogers Clark and the War in the West.
