Join us as we talk about special exhibitions in development, and changes to look for in the permanent galleries. Not just the what, but the how and why. Learn about new programs and new ways to get involved. Curators will discuss the latest field season and collections managers what new finds have come to our labs to be cataloged, studied, and made available to researchers worldwide. We’ll get a look at major projects on the horizon and notable ones from years past. We’ll visit the museum labs–and field camps throughout Alaska and gain a better understanding of not only what this museum is within and without its walls, but quite possibly what discussions take place within any art and natural and cultural history museum that you might venture inside.

    Infinity Machine

    Since Dec 8, 2013 07:01 UTC

Sally’s job as UN Space Commissioner gets quite interesting when a ship full of time-displaced people is discovered in the Atlantic. This also enables Sally to lead an all important peace mission to Baltan. The cold war with Baltan is finally showing signs of ending with the return of Mercy Collins, and Sally spends a year on the city trying to forge a new relationship with Earth. But now her associate commissioner arrives with a new problem. New Ontario, a planet Sally has visited before, is suddenly becoming important again. The cruel “masters” who rule the planet have apparently been displaced by a band of rebels with mysterious powers. Growing on the surface of this world is a massive structure that is generating enormous power. Earth wants answers, and Sally is being asked to help. But she won’t do it alone. No human is immune to the Masters’ influence, but perhaps non-humans would be. Sally accelerates another project she has been quietly overseeing. She contacts Ian, who has been tasked to make first contact with the Szzzyyyxx, a peaceful, if unusual species on the other side of a fold beyond the asteroid belt. Sally must put a strain on this new friendship to ask for help in what could easily deteriorate into a war. Because more is happening on New Ontario than just an insurrection. A band of former slaves now have the aid of a mysterious benefactor who is using them to build a machine that bends time. But who is this benefactor and what does he want? The answer is more terrifying than the question. Now Sally must work to prevent a disaster that could have implications throughout all of human history.

Moons of the Solar System – for iPad/Mac/PC

    by

    Since Aug 29, 2011 21:55 UTC

How did the solar system form? Are we alone in the Universe? What are alien atmospheres made of? These questions can be answered by studying the solar system’s vast family of satellites. This collection of videos looks at five of the most intriguing worlds that we’ve managed to visit over the last fifty years, including The Moon, Europa, Phobos, Deimos and Titan. From the first human footsteps on another world to the most distant spacecraft landing in history, our neighbourhood of moons has always played a central role in our exploration of the planets. For an introductory astronomy course, try The Open University course S194 Introducing astronomy.
