Ann Veronica by H. G. Wells

Ann Veronica by H. G. Wells

    by

    Since Dec 17, 2023 00:00 UTC

Ann Veronica was a controversial book detailing the development of a naive school girl into a “New Woman”. When it was published, the Spectator described it as a “poisonous book … capable of poisoning the minds of those who read it.” Although it is unlikely to offend modern listeners in this way, this novel addresses many feminist issues that are still relevant today.

    Roots to Renewal

    by

    Since Mar 1, 2021 14:00 UTC

Situated on a 900-acre Biodynamic farm in upstate New York, Hawthorne Valley has spent the last half a century working to foster social and cultural renewal through the integration of agriculture, education, and the arts. As we mark our 50th anniversary we want to share not just our story, but also the stories of our friends and contemporaries from across the globe who dedicate their lives in purposeful pursuit of meeting the ecological, social, and spiritual needs or our time. In an oft-quoted passage from one of our founders, Karl Ege, he suggests that the work that we are undertaking together at Hawthorne Valley “will create a place in which it is possible, in a true sense, to become a full human being.” At its core this work is about the future. Every day as our farmers tend to the soil and care for animals, our educators teach students to engage more deeply with themselves and the world around them, and we work together to try to create a structure for social equity, we aim to foster the conditions that will allow the future to emerge in its most life affirming manifestation. We invite you to join us!

    Where’s the Lemonade?

    Where’s the Lemonade?

    by

    Since Feb 20, 2019 16:00 UTC

They say when life gives you lemons you should make lemonade. Making lemonade is not always easy or possible. For us, we found ourselves single in our 40’s with kids at home and starting life over again. Luckily we found each other, online no doubt. When we began blending families, schedules, traditions, and laundry, we discovered lots of lemons. Our podcast is a reflection on how we get through the hard times and enjoy the good times on our new journey together, all with ten kids in tow. Sometimes when life gives you lemons, you make lemon squares. Lemonade might come later.

    All is Not Lost

    All is Not Lost

    by

    Since Oct 11, 2022 22:00 UTC

Love survives. Spirit survives. Our loved ones are all around us. All is Not Lost podcast with Psychic Medium, Rianne Maldonado. A paranormal podcast.“Anywhere from one-half to three-quarters of the population claim to have had one or more psychic experiences.” However, “An estimate accepted by many parapsychologists is that between 10-15 percent of the population have had an experience (ESP or PK) that cannot reasonably be explained by normal means. That still amounts to quite a few people.”Whether you believe in psychic phenomena or not, whether you’ve experienced your own, or not, you are welcome here and it is our sincere hope that you will take something valuable away with you after each episode. Our aim is not to convince you of the existence of psychic phenomena. Our goal is to entertain and educate you on what most people would call, “The Paranormal”. Rianne has been developing her gift as a Psychic Medium since 2015 and helps people all over the world connect with their loved ones who have crossed to The Other Side. Through her podcast, Rianne has found a way to reach a wider audience where her goals are to give hope to those who are hurting, educate those who have questions, and entertain those who are seeking the exciting and sometimes even terrifying side of her work.Rianne balances her own experiences and topics of interest with those of dynamic and entertaining guests. Join us each Wednesday for a new episode of All is Not Lost to see what Rianne and her guests have to share with you. Is the post-Cold War era over? In this brave new world, nothing is too small, or big, to be digitalised…including acts of war. Russian ransomware attacks almost doubled last year. At this very moment, cybercriminals are crippling schools, supermarkets, dentists, kindergartens, hospitals, oil pipelines – all in the name of money. Katie Puckrik wants to know who, and why. You can listen to the previous series of dot com on this same feed. Series 1 unveils the hidden army of volunteers behind the world’s biggest encyclopaedia; and series 2 explores the heat behind the headlines of the US’s 5th biggest social media website, Reddit. Dot com is presented by Katie Puckrik, written and produced by Anna Staufenberg, and edited by Crawford Blair.

Geopats: conversations with expats and others who straddle multiple cultures

    by

    Since May 7, 2018 16:57 UTC

I grew up straddling two cultures and this sparked my curiosity for more. In fact, I’ve spent the majority of my adult life living outside my passport country and loving it. I want to know the nuances of places and people, so that’s why I’m having these recorded conversations with folks who live in different places about their experiences. And what grounds them. If you’re one of these people, contact me. We should talk.
