    The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast

    The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast

    by

    Since Jun 5, 2019 04:00 UTC

The Blarney Pilgrims Podcast is a weekly journey to the heart of Irish music. We interview players of Irish music about how they first came to the music and the place it occupies in their lives now. We use the word ‘heart’ intentionally, because heart is what this music, and the people who play it, are all about. It’s a funny, warm and often unexpected journey – and the tunes are crackin’ too. NOTE: Hey there – it’s Darren and Dom here. So…we want to let you know that last week was the last episode (Ep 94) of the Blarney Pilgrims Podcast for now. We’ve come to a point where we’ve both decided to take a long pause and focus on a few other things. Knowing how much the podcast means to you all, it’s a decision we’ve been really reluctant to take. What we DO know is how massively grateful we are for every text, every thumbs up, every raised eyebrow of support we’ve had over the past two years. You are all legends, and we’re forever in your debt. Thanks especially to everyone who’s become a Patron Saint and supported us through the toughest of economic times, and thanks most especially to the musicians. To those who have been so generous to share their tunes and stories with us, and to those who’ve welcomed us into pub sessions and festival gatherings and house sessions and campsite sessions. Wherever in the world we’ve chatted with players of the music, we’ve been made to feel like lifelong pals. It’s a testament to the open heartedness of the communities who keep the music going wherever they are, and we can’t thank you all enough. We hope this archive will remain of use to people even as we’re taking a pause. So – please do stay in touch, don’t be a stranger, and if you see us out and about, do say hello. And we’ll see you when we see you. Dom and Darren.

But when the band’s leader is shot dead in the street, his widow asks Paul to find out why. The police say it was an accident, just another innocent bystander caught in gang war crossfire. But is that really what happened? Could it have been someone in the band? Even a member of the family? The more Paul investigates, the more he finds that things aren’t as they seem. Can he find and stop the killer before more lives are lost, including his own?

Hey man, I’ve heard you sold your dreams

Hey man, I’ve heard you sold your dreams

    by

    Since Feb 6, 2011 21:16 UTC

“Hey Man, I’ve Heard You Sold Your Dreams” is a collection of literary works by Benjamin G. Dubel. It is a treasure trove of poems that reaches deep into the mind and soul of youth with all its innocence and infinite wisdom. The author was but 17 years old when most of these were composed, yet they reflect a depth and maturity of someone who has experienced so much more in such a short time. His observations and thoughts of life, as well as various events he witnesses during this tumultuous time of development, are warm and heartfelt. The poems unleash an unbridled spirit and raw honesty of emotion as the author takes us on a journey throughout the ebbs and flows of his life. The struggles and grace of transcending into adulthood lie tenderly within the phrases of passion, pain, joy and confusion. He manages to collect and articulately document his thoughts and feelings on many facets of life. He captures the essence of the moment and writes with such clarity that is becomes easy to share in the experience. From heartache to heartbreak, disappointment to elation, each poem is chock full of some pivotal point in a youth’s life. The poem written in response to the Columbine massacre for example, shares a message of disdain and disappointment for such a heinous act. He calls out the vigilantes’ “one-way ticketed suicidal mission” and the sadness and memories left behind. In the poem entitled “Dreams”, his inspirational thoughts state “Life isn’t as hard as you think it seems, it’s always easier to look back and laugh” and in another segment “It’s a shame you had to go and let the best years of your life get you down”. Despite various components of challenge and adversity, the author somehow manages to find a positive spin of hope and revelation. This is a tribute to youth, both young and old and serves as testament that life is not easy, nor is it intended to be, but shows that in the end, you will be much richer for having lived through the experiences. Here are two examples from the collection of 130 poems: Poem 1 There are times I find myself sitting here wondering, if I ever see you again someday, could you forgive me? Even though it seems like you are so far away these days I look back now just to see I’ve been left behind … and if I could ever stand back up after falling down I know things would be different this time around. Well, I guess this is where I stand now before you forever guilty as sin, for everything I’ve done. But what difference does that make now anymore there’s a part of me that’s dead inside … knowing only memories, my mind keeps going blank as the thoughts of you wash away this time around. 2004 Poem 2 * “Dreams” Hey man … I hear you sold your dreams. Why did you run down the wrong path? Life isn’t as hard as you think it seems, it’s always easier to look back and laugh. Are you mad ‘cuz there’s no one to blame? Were you hoping that we would listen? I’m sorry that this happened, it’s a shame. There’s a way out but something is missin’. Hey man … I tried to tell you but you were always never around. It’s a shame you had to go and let the best years of your life get you down. So look at you now, is this where you stand? Why do you keep your mind in prison? You had so much going for you as a man but it looks like you have lost your vision. Hey man … you know I cried for you but no one ever seemed to care. Nothing anyone can say will correct the past, so I just hope you’ve found your way there.

    MY 90s MUSIC PODCAST

    MY 90s MUSIC PODCAST

    by

    Since Jul 30, 2020 09:27 UTC

Welcome to My 90s Music Podcast with me Mark McC. I will be bringing you regular chats with the very best musicians and scene-sters from the 90s. This podcast will be chocked full with your heroes and the people you loved and still love from The 90s. People who’s music or voices were never too far away from your ears and those who adorned your school books and you had plastered all over your bedroom walls. I will chat to the 90s superstars who lived it, loved it and who were truly in the eye of the storm. Guests will include those who were the soundtrack to your youth or formative years as you discovered the very best bands, best music tracks, best music scenes and best gigs as you partied your way through the best decade of your life. Our parents and our grandparents had the 60s, we luckily had the 90s. What a time to be alive and what a time to look back on the trials, tribulations and triumphs of a decade that will never sound, smell or feel like that ever again. The first 5 episodes of My 90s Music Podcast will be with: Alan McGee of Creation Records and signing Oasis fame. Steve Hamilton who is a famous sax player and composer who recorded and or toured with bands like Blur, Radiohead and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Mark Bedford who is Madness Bass Player and Founder member. Chris Helme – Seahorses front man and singer songwriter in his own right And Scottish National Treasure Duglas T. Stewart who is BMX bandits frontman and long time friend and collaborator with members of Teenage Fanclub, Superstar, Soup Dragons and many more of the Belshill Music Glitterati. For those of you who don’t know me, here is a little bit about me… I’m Mark McC, your host and I am stuck somewhere between 1989 and the early 2000s. I was always obsessed with the music of the 1990s since hearing She Bangs the Drums and Step On in a mate’s sister’s bedroom record player (she was out) when I was 14. I worked at Our Price Records in Irvine and Kilmarnock in the west coast of Scotland during school and University which gave me a proper schooling in music and opened my eyes to every genre and decade (but the alternative and mainstream 90s music was where I felt most at home). I was 16 when Britpop kicked off in 1992 with Blur and Suede and 18 when Liam and Noel launched the song that changed everything Supersonic. At the end of the 90s I moved from Ayrshire to The big Smoke, to London, to start working with some of the big music magazines like (NME, LOADED, MELODY MAKER, MUZIK and UNCUT) in the late 90s and never looked back (apart from my music tastes). My 90s Podcast is almost here. Please subscribe, tell your 90s loving friends to subscribe too. My 90s Music Podcast with me Mark McC first 5 episodes will be with you very soon. So stayed tuned on social media and your preferred podcast platform for more news. To make sure you don’t miss an episode of My 90s Music Podcast, please do follow @my90smusicpodcast on twitter, facebook, Instagram for more information.
