25 Years of Ed Tech is a serialized audio version of the book 25 Years of Ed Tech, written by Martin Weller of the Open University and published by AU Press. The audio version of the book is a collaborative project with a global community of volunteers contributing their voices to narrate a chapter of the book. Bonus episodes are a series of conversations called “Between the Chapters” to chat about these topics and more! “In this lively and approachable volume based on his popular blog series, Martin Weller demonstrates a rich history of innovation and effective implementation of ed tech across higher education. From Bulletin Board Systems to blockchain, Weller follows the trajectory of education by focusing each chapter on a technology, theory, or concept that has influenced each year since 1994. Calling for both caution and enthusiasm, Weller advocates for a critical and research-based approach to new technologies, particularly in light of disinformation, the impact of social media on politics, and data surveillance trends. A concise and necessary retrospective, this book will be valuable to educators, ed tech practitioners, and higher education administrators, as well as students.” Credits: Text in quotes from the book website published by Athabasca University Press CC-BY-NC-ND BG music Abstract Corporate by Gribsound released under a CC-BY license. Education is what connects people to opportunity. At Hobsons, we believe access to high-quality education and support is the key to driving success for students, communities, and the world. How do we ensure students are set up for success, however they may define it? How can the education system do a better job of supporting students at each stage of their journey — academically, yes, but also in life? How do we better prepare students for success outside of school, help them access and explore high-quality educational or career options, and ultimately reach their life goals? Upgraded by Hobsons, is a monthly series exploring these questions and more. We invite our listeners to consider what the future of education could look like, and how students, families, and educators can connect learning to life. Inspiring, thoughtful, and touching, the stories you’ll hear are really just a starting point.

Sujani Sivanantharajah from PHSPOT.org sits down with public health heroes of our time to share career stories, inspiration, and guidance for building public health careers. From time to time, she also has conversations with friends of public health – individuals who are not public health professionals, but their advice and guidance are equally important. The emotions, energy, and passion that comes from these stories act as a reminder that this space we’ve created for the public health community is a space that you can lean on as you navigate your career. We believe that to build a successful career in public health does not mean that it has to live up to a certain level of standard set out by somebody else…or that we need to burn ourselves out in the process. We believe that you can craft a career perfect for you, and your unique life. The message we hope to get across through these conversations is that building a career is not only about climbing up the ranks, but about crafting a life that you want, around your unique needs, and one that gives importance to your mental health, wellbeing, and building relationships and friendships: you can only do good in the world if you take care of yourself. Through PH SPOTlight, you will connect with peers you have never met before, and build relationships in a deep and meaningful way. What you will hear the most, from every single person is also passion. Passion to do good. Passion to advance human health and the human race. And a passion to share back with the public health community.
