How to Change the World: The History & Future of Innovation

How to Change the World: The History & Future of Innovation

    by

    Since May 19, 2025 14:22 UTC

Sam Webster Harris chronicles the complete history of innovation from the Stone Age to the modern day. Learn how transformative ideas build upon each other to change the world and shape the future of humanity.

Every breakthrough that changes civilization begins with curiosity. From the first controlled fire to artificial intelligence. Follow the journey, step-by-step, tracing the evolution of human progress and society. On the way, uncovering the nerdy stories and fun facts behind world-changing inventions and the mental models that drive systemic change.

Each episode is a deep dive into innovation patterns and the threads that shape our world:

    – From Leonardo Da Vinci dissecting human bodies to editing our own DNA

    – Maritime Navigation sets the course for Interstellar exploration

    – Hammurabi’s legal code is relevant in algorithmic governance

Modern revolutions in technology and the future of AI are a continuation of core needs of their human creators. Our desire for leverage shows up time and again in the history of civilization.

Drawing insights from psychology, economics, and anthropology, we explore how change makers in history like Galileo, Newton, and Tesla didn’t just discover big ideas. They transformed civilization itself. Their playbooks reveal timeless strategies for anyone seeking to understand how the world works.

This isn’t surface-level history. It’s intellectual history told through narrative learning—connecting past invention stories to the future of technology, future of society, and patterns of history that will define the Anthropocene.

Whether you’re fascinated by the timeline of human history, founder stories, or the psychology of change, each episode delivers actionable mental models wrapped in engaging storytelling. Learn something new about human progress while discovering your own potential to change the world.

For the intellectually curious seeking to understand innovation, drive progress, and glimpse the future of humanity.

    For Our Special Kids

    For Our Special Kids

    by

    Since Mar 17, 2022 18:00 UTC

For Our Special Kids is simply that…For Our Special Kids.
When you realize you have a magic child on your hands, you do everything you can for them. So…I started a podcast to honor and highlight the magic and the mess of raising a child with special needs.

What I have learned over the past 6 years is profound.
    1. My child is WAY smarter than me.
    2. She has opened me up to the incredible world of intuition, psychic abilities, mediumship, healing, telepathy, galactic travel, the angel realms, spirit guides, and a whole lot more.
    3. If we can learn to let go of expectations, the universe will blow your mind.
    4. I wouldn’t want to spend another day of my existence without her in my life.
    5. I am a better person because she chose me as her mom.

So…while I originally intended to focus on providing tools and therapies and amazing stuff for parents/caregivers with a child with special needs…this has really morphed into a podcast for parents that are curious about new and innovative ways to better connect with their child. How can you use CranioSacral Therapy to be a better parent? How might crystals help soothe the energy within your home? How can your child’s birth chart help you become a better home schooling parent? What is the best way to maneuver an IEP while celebrating the differences your magic child brings to the school?

So, thanks for joining me…it’s gonna be a fun ride and I promise we’ll make mistakes along the way. But hell…that’s parenting for ya!!!
    Smooches,Jen

Invent like an Owner with Dave Schappell

Invent like an Owner with Dave Schappell

    by

    Since Apr 1, 2021 02:55 UTC

Welcome to the Invent Like An Owner Podcast, where I’ll talk with the Amazonians who helped build Amazon.com into one of the world’s most valuable companies. This weekly podcast is for entrepreneurs, future business leaders, and all students of history (not to mention, people interested in getting hired at Amazon!). The goal of the podcast is to capture the Amazon Creation Stories and create a historical archive… before we forget all the details — that’s it. My name is Dave Schappell (and no, I’m not the comedian). I first joined Amazon in 1998 as a Product Manager. Over two stints working at Amazon, I spent more than 11 years building innovative products and services alongside incredible co-workers. Those services include successful products like Amazon Marketplace and Amazon Web Services and less-than-successful products like Amazon Auctions and zShops. But this podcast isn’t about me — rather, I’ll be interviewing key members of launch teams to get the stories behind Amazon’s product launches over the years. Please subscribe to the ‘Invent Like An Owner’ podcast in your favorite podcast store – the first episode drops in early April 2021. And if you’re a little old school and would like email updates, sign up for my email newsletter at www.InventLikeAnOwner.com. Onward!
