    Happy Earth Day

    Happy Earth Day

    by

    Since Sep 1, 2018 21:09 UTC

Out of sight, out of mind. We don’t see the greenhouse gas emissions from livestock farming when we bite into a hamburger. We don’t see the groundwater leaching from landfills after the garbage truck turns the corner. We don’t see a planet suffering from human exploitation —rather a convenient resource, ready to give and be acknowledged once every 365 days. The Happy Earth Day podcast offers an alternative way of understanding the consequences of our everyday actions via a series of interview from around the world. It serves to not only educate but also challenge us to continue these conversations outside of the show with others in our community. Season 1 is all about the ways we connect to our planet whether it’s through technology, science, policy, music, religious faith, culture, food, history, etc. and seeing the ways in which these perspectives develop in different regions of the world. I hope these stories inspire you to cultivate your own connection with the natural world and bring change to your communities.

    The Travel Is Real

    The Travel Is Real

    by

    Since Sep 10, 2018 03:46 UTC

The Travel is Real is a podcast about hearing captivating stories from adventures abroad. Each guest on the episode reveals an experience which occurred while traveling, backpacking, or living abroad. These stories range from fun, comedic, risqué, to bizarre, gross, harrowing or horrific. As long as the if the narrative is intriguing, I want to hear it! Typically if an interview revolves around an arduous, dangerous, or harrowing narrative, the guest and I will give advice and tips, so listeners can learn from the mistakes of the guests and myself (I’ve certainly made a few). Anything can happen when traveling around the world, which is why so many travelers posses fascinating stories to tell. The episodes vary in theme, but laughter is always a constant. This is a podcast which does not take itself to seriously. Some interview may encompass situations that at the time were very serious and in no way funny, but as most know, when reflecting back on a situation, laugher is common. The goal is to entertain and educate, and perhaps invoke some laugher.

    Election R&D – 2020 and Beyond

    Election R&D – 2020 and Beyond

    by

    Since Dec 9, 2019 23:28 UTC

At the USC Dornsife Center for the Political Future, we bring together top Republicans and Democrats to transcend partisan divisions and explore solutions to our most pressing national and global challenges. Join veteran strategists Bob Shrum and Mike Murphy along with other Center staff and major voices in the Bully Pulpit for fun conversations that advance civil dialogue and practical politics. When President Theodore Roosevelt coined the phrase bully pulpit, bully meant “wonderful”; and Roosevelt, according to the Oxford Dictionary, was envisioning “an outstanding opportunity to speak out on any issue.” Hear from famous people who’ve known success and setbacks, whether they worked for Donald Trump or Barack Obama, G.W. Bush or Bill Clinton, the Republican Party or the Democratic Party. The conversations go behind the curtain with elected officials, campaign staff, journalists, academics, pundits, and political operatives. Every exchange is guided by standards central to the Center’s mission: Respect each other and respect the truth. Opponents are adversaries, not enemies. And if you lose, don’t burn down the stadium. The Bully Pulpit was formerly called Election R&D. All our podcast episodes are available at https://electionrd.libsyn.com/website. The Bully Pulpit is a member of the Democracy Group network of top political podcasts about democracy, civic engagement, and civil discourse. https://www.democracygroup.org/

    Modern Poetry in Translation

    Modern Poetry in Translation

    by

    Since Jun 4, 2013 20:46 UTC

When Ted Hughes and Daniel Weissbort founded MPT in 1965 they had two principal ambitions: to get poetry out from behind the Iron Curtain into a wider circulation in English and to benefit writers and the reading public in Britain and America by confronting them with good work from abroad. They published poetry that dealt truthfully with the real contemporary world. For more than 50 years MPT has continued and widened that founding intent.
