A weekly incursion into the world of Eclectic music, with your DJ Rob. Every week, there are new guest hosts who bring totally different dynamics and genres to the show. You can wander ’round the world and you won’t find a DJ with more eclectic experience and better banter. Following in the eclectic style, some of the genres played on this show are; Rock, Death Metal, J-pop, Alternative, Oldies, Jazz, World, a little indie rock, and much much more. Don’t get him wrong, Rob isn’t an indie-elitist. You will hear a popular song from back in the day, and you can be sure to hear sound clips from famous movies and TV Series, and don’t be surprised if he is ripping on a celebrity, or just some random person. So, as he says, CRAM IT IN YOUR FACE HOLE!!!! [itunes pic]
It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here! HOT SWAT IS BACK!!!! It’s a brand new season, and a fresh new show! The long wait has finally come to an end, and in a big way. There have been many changes since the last episode of Hot Swat, including a brand new co-host and a retinue of new recurring guest hosts. This week, Rob’s brand new co-host Daniela meets Stephen for the first time, and a new recurring guest host, Janis, joins the Hot Swat cast. The long break has left both Rob and the show refreshed, renewed, and ready to go, with more new music than you could ever hope to fit on 10 iPods, coming at you every week. So, without further ado, strap in and get ready for another episode of Hot Swat; Fiercely Independent Eclectic Radio. CRAM IT IN YOUR FACE HOLE!!!!

“My Name Is Sheba” is a fictional podcast about the creative life and the beautiful struggle. It chronicles the journey of iconic jazz/R&B artist Sheba Hawkins’s rise from obscurity to superstardom, and the music she created along the way. Narrated by Grammy award winning producer Monroe Jones, and based on the music of Kandace Springs, “My Name Is Sheba” is a different kind of story.

Last weekend was the 16th year of the Big Chill Festival. The performances were great – I actually managed to miss very little compared to my usual festival antics.

    My highlights:

    live: mulatu
    spoken word: ursula rucker
    dj: mr. scruff

This mix is a sum up of my memories of the performances, both live and on vinyl. It goes out to those who I camped with and to old friends I bumped into while there. Enjoy…

    Living in Hi-Fi

    Living in Hi-Fi

    by

    Since Jun 6, 2016 03:19 UTC

Living in Hi-Fi is a podcast about records, released every Monday. Like many record collections, ours has come together from various places: some vinyl we inherited from family, some we sought out and bought on purpose, but most of our records we fished out of dollar bins at thrift stores or dug out from deep in the crates at record stores. We love music so much that we’ll buy just about anything that looks interesting. We’ve discovered a lot of really awesome music that way and we want to share our discoveries. Some of the artists we’ve found have been forgotten about (if they were ever recognized in the first place!) and we think they deserve to be remembered and honored, or at least listened to. We feature some of our favorites: easy listening music from the 1950s and 1960s like exotica and bossa nova, as well as some oddball finds and world music from all over. Each episode, we’ll share the story behind the record we’ve chosen, a bit of history about the artist, and some highlights of the recording. Make sure to check out the show notes for each episode for more about the artist and where you can purchase the music we feature.

Start the Day Right. And take it slow… The Slo Get Up podcasts are an eclectic selection of slow tracks– jazz, acoustic folk, neo-soul, trip-hop, retro-soul, bossa nova, gospel acapella, fuzzy lo-fi rock, jazzy hip-hop, relaxectronica, and more — designed to lift you into the day. Full playlists available at my Amalgamated Recordings blog www.amalrec.org. The Slo Get Up is exactly that. While good anytime, its designed for that moment in day when you’re getting motivated but not revving your engine. When you want some music to nudge you forward as you sip coffee, stare out the window, or read the news. Its not “quiet storm” music nor “ring-a-ding-ding” lounge with a martini. it cuts genres quickly but stays at nice slow pace. see more mixes and podcasts by others at www.AmalgamatedRecordings.blogspot.com
