Its programmes give people from both communities the chance to celebrate, debate and share the events, issues and faith that shape their daily lives. It has received coverage and been the subject of special features on many of the world’s biggest broadcast networks, including NHK (Japan), RAI2 (Italy), BBC WORLD, BBCTV, CBC (Canada), CHANNEL 4 (UK), TRIPLE J (Australia), PRESS TV (Iran) and AL JAZEERA ENGLISH amongst others. As the latest conflict in Gaza fades from the headlines, we focus on the issue of what lies ahead when the guns fall silent and the reporters go home: is there still a real vision for a peace beyond the destruction? In this podcast, our team of Muslim and Jewish presenters are joined by contributors from around the world. They include: – Ben Keene, setting up a Palestinian and Israeli peacebuilding audio recording project, (7m20s in) – CEJI Director Robin Sclafani on European Jewish-Muslim dialogue and their vision for peace (46m30s in). – Len and Elias from the Jewish-Palestinian Living Room Dialogues initiative in the USA, (55m55s in) – Gershon Gan, former Israeli ambassador to Zimbabwe (1h,1m 45s in) The programme also includes a deeply moving discussion between Salaam Shalom presenters and friends Javed and Tal (33m40s in). Presenter Danyel also provides an eyewitness account of the political activism caused by the Gaza conflict, (17m30s in). It closes at 1h14m50s with a special look at Gaza by the “Kickin’ It Back” team. We also feature the music of Yusuf Islam, David Broza and Said Murad, Hdag Nagash and other artists promoting the message of peace. DISCLAIMER: Please note that segments of this programme were recorded before the most recent ceasefire. Radio Salaam Shalom provides a forum for discussion and it should be noted that any opinions expressed are the responsibility of the contributors. 12 Minute Halacha

    12 Minute Halacha

    by

    Since May 27, 2019 12:00 UTC

We all try to dedicate time for learning Torah. Many people attend Daf Yomi, have a chavrusa, etc. Yet, most people find it difficult to learn Halacha in a consistent and clear way. We either spend too much time on one subject or try to breeze through a summary of all the laws in a few minutes. Neither of these approaches work. The concept of 12 Minute Halacha Daily (Monday through Friday) is to spend one hour a week learning Halacha from the sources all the way through the contemporary poskim and applications. This can be listened to while driving, sitting down with the sefer, or even while taking a leisurely walk. The purpose of the Shiur is to learn Halacha together without getting bogged down with many details or fancy lomdus. This way one can go through many Halachos with a deep appreciation of the sources, the rules, and see why we do what we do in our everyday lives. That is why i chose the Chayei Adam as a springboard. This podcast isn’t intended to replace the need for a Rav in one’s life. This is simply Limud Hatorah together. My hope is that we discuss some of these things by our Shabbos table and show our family that although we need to spend significant time at work, our excitement and passion is for Limud Hatorah, Avoidas hashem and Halacha. Please reach out with questions, suggestions or complaints. 12minutehalacha @gmail.com This podcast is powered for free by Torahcasts.
