    What Dreamers Do

    What Dreamers Do

    by

    Since Sep 10, 2021 02:00 UTC

Hi, I’m Carla Gover, an Appalachian musician, flatfoot dancer, mama, and DREAMER from Kentucky. I’m on a mission to share fierce love, good humor, and inspiration to help you live a life of creative freedom. I decided to start the What Dreamers Do Podcast to help answer the question: How can we use our gifts and talents to build a better world, and have fun along the way? You’ll also find musings about Appalachia as well as interesting conversations with songwriters, poets, dancers, educators, world-changers, social justice warriors, and other people like you who are working to make a difference using their art, their skills, or just the way they live their lives. On every episode, you’ll hear ideas, conversations, and actionable items to help you unlock your creativity and live your purpose. Grab a mason jar full of sweet tea (or something a little stronger) and pull up a chair, cause it’s time to get YOUR dream on!

    Dinh v Ride The Ducks

    Dinh v Ride The Ducks

    by

    Since Jul 16, 2019 16:00 UTC

Stritmatter Trial Insider: Dinh v Ride The Ducks. An accident, its origins, and its aftermath. A production of Stritmatter Kessler Koehler Moore, and hosted by Sara Bernard. With court testimony, interviews, and archival sound, this podcast pieces together the legal and historical landscape that surrounded the fatal collision between a Ride the Ducks vehicle and a charter bus on September 24, 2015 in Seattle. It explores the months-long trial that ensued and hears from people whose lives will never be the same. But the 2015 crash was not the only duck boat accident. There have been many others across the country and world, a number of them fatal. How do duck boats — repurposed U.S. military vehicles from World War II — sustain so many major accidents and remain in the tourist business? After this and other lawsuits, will they?

    People of Faith for Justice

    People of Faith for Justice

    by

    Since Jan 19, 2021 15:07 UTC

As clergy and laity from a variety of backgrounds, our commitment to justice is expressed in differing ways dependent upon our faith tradition and our personal understandings of God. We will not always agree on issues, rather find ourselves surprised when we do. The manner in which we negotiate the differences amongst ourselves is in itself part of our commitment to justice. We believe that God wills shalom; peace, justice and well-being for all people, all nations, and for our planet. God’s shalom has firm scriptural grounding in the concepts of social righteousness, justice and peacemaking.

    Not About You

    Not About You

    by

    Since Nov 30, 2016 05:52 UTC

Not About You is a podcast about identity and social justice. I’m the producer and host of the show and I wanted to make a show where a white, straight, cis-gendered man (that’s me) connected with folks with different lived experiences from my own about the ways parts of their identities bump up against injustices. We’ll be talking about race, gender, religion, representation, protests, politics, relationships and more. My hope is that this series leads to more conversation and interaction. I want folks who are hesitant or new to standing in these struggles to feel more comfortable showing up for change and asking questions. I want underrepresented voices to have new ways to be amplified and supported. I’ve set up a voicemail line, 612-361-9261, where you can share comments, suggestions and personal stories of your own that may be used in future episodes of the podcast. If you tell me which episode you’re responding to, that will help me make follow up episodes with voicemail responses. Call 612-361-9261 with your questions, comments or stories.

    Since Sep 26, 2018 16:00 UTC

It is now almost universally accepted that our criminal justice system is broken. Anyone who has experienced its inner workings has a story to tell; from the accused to victims of crime, lawyers to probation officers, witnesses to judges. A decade of unparalleled cuts has completely reshaped our idea of criminal justice, an idea that was once envied globally. In Un:Just, we provide a space to tell the stories of that broken system. Rights and justice in international relations – for iBooks

Rights and justice in international relations – for iBooks

    by

    Since Aug 1, 2011 02:21 UTC

Can the concept of human rights be applied across borders or are rights culturally specific? Is it realistic, or even desirable, to aim at an international system based on universal principles of justice? This unit takes a critical view of the assumption that ‘rights are a good thing’ and looks at the problems that arise when they are applied in the international arena. This study unit is just one of many that can be found on LearningSpace, part of OpenLearn, a collection of open educational resources from The Open University. Published in ePub 2.0.1 format, some feature such as audio, video and linked PDF are not supported by all ePub readers.

    Wiehl of Justice

    Since May 15, 2015 16:28 UTC

In part two of the Wiehl of Justice interview with newly exonerated Cal Harris, Cal opens up and explains why he wants justice for those he feels abused their official powers in his case. Was this personal? Were there motivations having nothing to do with actual evidence? Harris and his attorney Bruce Barket elaborate on these issues in this podcast. We also learn more about who they feel is the real perpetrator against Michele Harris, and how they are trying to help authorities pursue this avenue of investigation. Remember: if you’ve missed how this Wiehl of Justice podcast series began, be sure to start with episode one here: The Cal Harris Story – Episode One
