The challenge with growth is that the habits that got you here become the limitations that prevent you from getting there. Growth not only requires us to learn new habits. It requires that we unlearn old ones. I’m Tim Hamilton, CEO of Praxent and host of the Commanding Business podcast. Each week, I interview authors, experts and real world leaders about how they grew their teams, their organizations and ultimately themselves. CTO Connection Podcast

    by

    Since Oct 27, 2016 13:00 UTC

Hear the inside stories of the “geeks who lead at scale” – Directors, VPs and CTOs running software engineering orgs at larger companies with 100+ engineers, and interviews with domain experts who can help those leaders to manage their engineering orgs more effectively.

I’m your host – Peter Bell, I’ve been helping senior engineering leaders to connect with and learn from their peers since 2010!

This podcast is designed for engineering leaders who want to learn the latest good practices from their peers who are way too busy operating to write an article or publish a book!

Running a software engineering org at scale is hard! You need to manage stakeholder expectations, attract and retain top talent, align and structure your org effectively and keep up with the latest processes and tooling. And that’s before we even try to make sense of the potential impact of LLMs and GenAI on managing technical teams.

Our podcast and weekly newsletter provide you with access to hard-won wisdom from top engineering leaders and relevant domain experts. Learn more at https://geekswholead.com/

Tulsa Tales: Districts at Work MiniPods

Tulsa Tales: Districts at Work MiniPods

    by

    Since Aug 22, 2019 18:56 UTC

Many school system initiatives struggle to get results. Why? All of us who care about education — district staff, community leaders, principals, teachers (and the people who love them) — know that school districts face huge challenges: from persistent achievement gaps, to teacher shortages. And we know how frustrating it feels when strategic plans and best efforts don’t produce significantly better results for teachers and students. It was hard for teachers in Tulsa Public Schools to meet their students’ diverse needs and deliver instruction that met new, more rigorous standards. This challenge was exacerbated by high levels of teacher turnover (especially among new teachers) and low levels of education funding. By (1) clearly defining what schools needed to be successful, and (2) shifting resources and designing processes to give schools the support they need, the district IS getting traction and seeing results. In this mini-podcast, real school and district leaders share details about what they did and how they did it.
