So, I Quit My Day Job

So, I Quit My Day Job

    by

    Since Oct 19, 2020 18:00 UTC

Let’s be honest… on bad days, we’ve all dreamt of marching into the boss’s office and saying with undeniable conviction, “I quit”.

There are days when we want to throw in the towel, when we imagine what could’ve been if only we’d wandered down a different career path.

Despite what you may think, it’s never too late to make a change, to reinvent yourself, to follow your dreams… just like Cathrine Mahoney did.

Cathrine left her cushy job as a celebrity publicist to make it as an author. Spoiler alert – she got the book deal and published her first book, Currently Between Husbands, and on top of that, she also started a podcast.

So, I Quit My Day Job, hosted by Cathrine Mahoney, is a podcast inspired by people from all walks of life who share one thing in common; they took a leap of faith and quit their day jobs in pursuit of their dream gig.

From Hairdresser to Crime Scene Cleaner, or Media Sales to Yogi, each episode is a celebration of those who bravely tossed it all in and followed their heart.

    Explicit content and NSFW.

On each episode, one third of a tale is presented; each part written by one of the three authors. There is no collaboration during the writing process. Each author simply attempts to make sense of the madness created by the previous author(s) until they have written a full tale comprised completely of insanity, juvenile humor, and terrible puns.

    Hyphenated Journey

    Hyphenated Journey

    by

    Since Feb 23, 2022 05:00 UTC

In this miniseries, Yasmeen shares her honest and open reflection about growing up as an Iraqi-American, a “hyphenated American”. This is not a story about politics, or war. Instead, this is a story about what it was like to grow up as a child of immigrants who fled a country due to political instability. While this miniseries is focused on her story, she also interviews Iraqis who lived through the Gulf Wars in Iraq and later immigrated to the United States. Many Iraqis are still deeply traumatized from living under a dictatorship, and many are paranoid about publicly sharing their narratives with the world as they’ve been punished for doing so for so many years. Yasmeen takes us on a journey of her inner inquiry and a reconciliation with her inner child, as she questions her place in the greater narrative of what it is to be a hyphenated American. Hyphenated Journey is a Hakawati production. Written, narrated and directed by Yasmeen Turayhi. Sound design by Karim Beidoun. Cover design by Aya Mobaydeen and inspired by Sue Turayhi. Creatives by Gina Abou Hamad. Special thanks goes to Sinan Al-Mokhtar and Hamada Zahawi for their courage in sharing their stories.
