This Used To Be The Place

This Used To Be The Place

    by

    Since Mar 22, 2018 03:09 UTC

This Used To Be The Place is a fiction podcast series exploring how New York City’s past collides with its present. Season One centers around Anna who, after emerging from her apartment for the first time in three days, finds a notebook with an intriguing list of names. Each episode, she tracks down one person on the list to try to determine how they’re all connected. Coming up with creative excuses, lies, and even schemes verging on criminal, Anna manages to insert herself into their lives in order to uncover their stories, or perhaps just to break the lonely monotony of her own life. As she ventures throughout New York, Anna discovers not only what the list means, but how the city isolates and connects us, and how the people who live here hide and reveal their secrets. Driven by a renewed sense of purpose as she investigates the list, Anna begins to move forward from a tragic past, navigating her struggles with mental health while dealing with the universal issues of finding your place in the world and coming to terms with who you are.

Fortelling: Story, Myth, Metaphor & Meaning as Medicine

Fortelling: Story, Myth, Metaphor & Meaning as Medicine

    by

    Since Mar 20, 2019 07:00 UTC

Myths and mysteries. Fables and fairy tales. Anecdotes and adventures. Oracles and oral tradition. Life surrounds us with themes, archetypes, symbols, and patterns that we weave into narrative to inform our relationship to everything: our selves, others, community, culture, nature, the divine. Courageous exploration of storytelling and its metaphors serves as a powerful tool for spiritual healing, growth, and change; dynamic, deliberate relationship with magick, myth & meaning facilitates personal, interpersonal & collective transformation. After all, stories, storytelling, and storytellers empower us to make connection, assign meaning, create value, heal history, explode paradigms, build the future, and reclaim both individual and shared experience. The Fortelling podcast celebrates stories, storytellers, and storytelling as magick and medicine. Without stories, storytellers, and storytelling, we lose our place in the world. Because life *is* stories. And stories are FORTELLING.

    Long Shadow

    Long Shadow

    by

    Since Jul 21, 2021 03:56 UTC

The Ruby Ridge raid, the Waco siege at the Branch Davidian compound, the Oklahoma City bombing, the Jan. 6 insurrection… they are all explosive moments in recent U.S. history. But connect the dots between these—and other—seemingly disparate, violent events, and you’ll answer some of the most existential questions facing the U.S. today: How did America get the far right so wrong? What will it take now to get it right?

In LONG SHADOW’s first season, host Garrett Graff examined the lingering questions of 9/11, the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Season two, LONG SHADOW: RISE OF THE AMERICAN FAR RIGHT, explores how the modern domestic extremist movement grew from a fatal shootout on a mountain top in Idaho, was fanned by a fiery fiasco on the plains of Texas, and ultimately led to a riot on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.

Crackling with rich archival tape and riveting eyewitness and expert interviews, this seven-episode narrative podcast examines a thread of history that’s vitally relevant to our current political climate. It will help listeners understand why the fringe is overrunning the mainstream, conspiracy theorists have captured offices in Congress, and peaceful protests are turning into riots. How did we get here? Find out by following and listening to LONG SHADOW: RISE OF THE AMERICAN FAR RIGHT.
