    For Our Special Kids

    For Our Special Kids

    by

    Since Mar 17, 2022 18:00 UTC

For Our Special Kids is simply that…For Our Special Kids.
When you realize you have a magic child on your hands, you do everything you can for them. So…I started a podcast to honor and highlight the magic and the mess of raising a child with special needs.

What I have learned over the past 6 years is profound.
    1. My child is WAY smarter than me.
    2. She has opened me up to the incredible world of intuition, psychic abilities, mediumship, healing, telepathy, galactic travel, the angel realms, spirit guides, and a whole lot more.
    3. If we can learn to let go of expectations, the universe will blow your mind.
    4. I wouldn’t want to spend another day of my existence without her in my life.
    5. I am a better person because she chose me as her mom.

So…while I originally intended to focus on providing tools and therapies and amazing stuff for parents/caregivers with a child with special needs…this has really morphed into a podcast for parents that are curious about new and innovative ways to better connect with their child. How can you use CranioSacral Therapy to be a better parent? How might crystals help soothe the energy within your home? How can your child’s birth chart help you become a better home schooling parent? What is the best way to maneuver an IEP while celebrating the differences your magic child brings to the school?

So, thanks for joining me…it’s gonna be a fun ride and I promise we’ll make mistakes along the way. But hell…that’s parenting for ya!!!
    Smooches,Jen

    Between Two Brains

    Between Two Brains

    by

    Since Jun 23, 2020 09:00 UTC

The podcast by survivors, for survivors, about survivors. We take a candid and fearless dive into brain injury and the world of invisible disability. Brain injury is the #1 killer and disabler of people under 40. A brain injury can change everything in an instant. Forever. Largely invisible, isolated and stigmatized, this community is also where the most incredible comeback stories of resilience, recovery and reinvention live. Between Two Brains sheds light on this community’s silent determination to survive with compassion (and a little irreverence). Our hosts live it every day. They get it – they get you – and they get real about life with a broken brain. Let’s talk about life beyond brain injury, celebrate neurodiversity and make the invisible visible together.

    Everybody In

    Everybody In

    by

    Since Jan 19, 2019 20:18 UTC

Mackenzie Beauvais-Nikl, the co-host of “Everybody In,” experiences autism. But this podcast isn’t really about that, exactly. This podcast is about conversations and connections. It’s about how we are the same, and how we’re different. For each episode, Mackenzie and her co-host Andrea Moore interview a different guest. Some of their guests experience intellectual and developmental disabilities, also known as I/DD, and some don’t. They talk about friendship, family, adulthood, and — when it comes up — disability. The podcast is called “Everybody In” because they are so interested in… EVERYBODY.

The format of each episode alternates depending on who leads the interview. Mackenzie interviews guests who identify as neurotypical, meaning that they don’t have a diagnosed intellectual or developmental disability. Mackenzie asks her guest the same two questions each time, and then her guest gets to surprise her with two questions of their own. Together they go back-and-forth, getting to know each other better.

Andrea interviews guests with disabilities. Her guests might experience Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, fragile X, or other developmental or genetic differences. Andrea asks them a series of questions about friendship, disability, housing, transportation, love and romance, and their special gifts. At the end of the interview, the guest has an opportunity to ask Andrea or Mackenzie any questions in return.

In every episode, Mackenzie and Andrea work together to bridge any gaps, ask follow-up questions, and keep the party rolling!

    Transcriptions available. Email podcast@thewayfaringband.com.

“Everybody In” is conceived and produced by The Wayfaring Band, a Denver-based 501(c)3 nonprofit. The Wayfaring Band is not a rock-and-roll band, but a band of travelers. They create opportunities for people to increase their leadership and life skills through travel, serving adults with and without disabilities.

    Sound engineering: Carin Huebner

    Original music: The Dosage

Season 1 co-hosts: Faith Vidrine and Andrea Moore

Season 2 co-hosts: Mackenzie Beauvais-Nikl and Andrea Moore

    The Power We Hold

    The Power We Hold

    by

    Since Nov 25, 2021 21:00 UTC

Welcome to The Power We Hold podcast. My name is Vanessa Albury. I’m an eco-visual artist who grew up in Nashville, TN, went to college in Charleston, SC, and moved to NYC the day before my interview for graduate school at NYU in March of 2006. I left my apartment of 13 years in Brooklyn and I now live in the world making art and focusing on healing and love. This podcast follows my journey to becoming a better and better ally to people of all our beautiful difference ( BIPOC, LGBTQAI2S+ and fellow non-normative brained and bodied friends, neighbors and strangers) and a better steward of planet Earth, our shared home.

The lovely human and brilliant artist, Caleb Williams is my co-host on this journey because of her vast talents along with her willingness to have uncomfortable conversations with me and our shared belief in our intentions, integrity and love.

We are here to support you on your journey into better allyship and Earth stewardship with us.. I understand that people tend to listen to other people who look and sound like they do, so I’ve created this podcast to provide an example of how to navigate uncomfortable and even difficult conversations about race, gender, brains, bodies and the planet as a white person.

Also I’m in the non-normative brain category. I have narcolepsy with cataplexy from C-PTSD. I am by no means perfect. I will step in it, say the wrong thing, and I’m committed that being ok and to digging deeper and learning.

For those of you listening who are BIPOC, LGBTQAI2S+ and non-normative embodied, I thank you for listening and participating in the education process of informing the privileged classes of your experience of racism, sexism, ageism, body-ism and all the -isms in America and the world. I understand that is a generous action and I’m grateful to you.

My intention is for this podcast to give you, and us all really, hope for a future of equality and faith that many white, straight, generally normative people are on your side and truly want to create a better, equal and sustainable world together.

To get there, to understand each other, we must discuss uncomfortable topics and learn how to relate to each other through them.

With deeper understanding of each other, we can truly love each other. Thank you for joining me on this journey exploring The Power We Hold.

    The Good Mom Podcast

    The Good Mom Podcast

    by

    Since Nov 12, 2020 06:00 UTC

Every mom wants to be a good mom but how many times a day do we question this?! We have been conditioned to believe that there are rules for being a good mom but I say your definition is the only one that matters. As a mom with four kids with neurodiversity and a background in education, I believe every child has gifts and talents of genius. I also see life’s unexpected trials as chances for us to grow in our strength, love, and connection as a family. Escape from your “bad mom” soundtrack each week to listen in for inspiration on all the mom things, whether neurodiversity is in your family or not. Get the go ahead to have way more fun without guilt, hear new perspectives on old problems, and finally feel like you know what you’re doing as a mom.

Into The Neuroverse with Colin Hoult

    by

    Since Jul 14, 2023 06:00 UTC

A new podcast all about Neurodiversity! Actor and Comedian Colin Hoult (you may know him from Afterlife, Black Ops, or as Anna Mann) invites you on a journey into his brain and maybe yours! After getting a diagnosis of ADHD and contemplating pursuing a diagnosis of Autism Colin has, perhaps foolishly, decided to document all this on a podcast. He’ll be chatting away to you like an absolute loon, hopefully giving some (completely unqualified) tips and ideas for navigating the world, being generally a least quite funny, sometimes deeply moving and every 3 episodes bring on a guest! If you are neurodiverse, think you may be neurodiverse or just need to fill a 45 minute train journey with absolute waffle this is the show for you!
