The Positive Psychology Podcast – Bringing the Science of Happiness to your Earbuds with Kristen Truempy

    by

    Since Aug 10, 2014 08:20 UTC

The science of the good life, huh? Sorry this is not about booze, sex and rock n’roll (or whatever is en vogue right now). In fact we talk about a lot of things that tree huggers would love: appreciation of beauty, gratitude, positive emotions, relationships and well, love. However we, that is positive psychologists and positive psychology practitioners buried ourselves in books, set out to experiment and then write it all up in a writing style that is about as exciting to read as watching an avocado turn brown. And that’s the problem: if you are not an academic you probably want a little bit more excitement, than pages and pages of densely written journals can provide. Even if you are an academic, who has time to read all the interesting stuff out there anyways? So in an effort to save your eyes taking on a comically rectangular shape the positive psychology podcast brings the science of the good life to your earbuds. It’s not all treehugger style though; sometimes we might get quite serious, for example when exploring things like post-traumatic growth or positive parenting. Subscribe if you want to benefit from the scientific insights into happiness and meaning while you are on the go. Let me know where you are while you are listening to this. If you like it review it, because that’s the only way other people can find it too.

    by

    Since Jul 15, 2009 22:16 UTC

We are all likely to experience pain at some stage in our lives. But, how do you deal with constant, chronic pain? Learning to manage severe pain on a daily basis takes a phenomenal amount of mental and physical strength. The 7 video tracks in this album introduce patients and doctors at the Royal Free Hospital’s Pain Clinic and the Real Health Institute in London. They explore the causes of pain, the changes it brings to the lives of sufferers and the ways in which drugs, surgery, physiotherapy and cognitive therapies can help control it. This material forms part of The Open University course SDK125 Introducing health sciences: a case study approach.

A podcast by two BIPoC/PGM Mental health practitioners (Dr. Ksera Dyette & Blanca Torres, LMFT) at different parts of our professional journeys, who answered the call to healing. We are here to have conversations that were sorely lacking in our training…like how our cultural identities shape our approach to mental health, how whiteness is deeply embedded in our fields, and how we show up despite it…to spite it.

    by

    Since Apr 8, 2020 23:10 UTC

So Many Wings, a flock of misfits and changemakers, is a podcast that draws on our backgrounds in transformative mental health and social justice organizing to gather our people and share stories and visions as we struggle for collective liberation. This project is a node in the growing network of creatively maladjusted folks who are rising up and capturing the imaginations of people who are ready for change. We chose the name So Many Wings because there are so many ways to get free, and because we can only get free together, as a flock of misfits and changemakers moving through the world. We hope you’ll join us.
