    Queers With Beers

    Queers With Beers

    Since Jan 8, 2011 02:54 UTC

Are you queer? Are you a nerd? Do you like booze? So do we. Queers With Beers combines the best of all three worlds, as hosts Ariel and Avery discuss queer community issues and their nerdy loves–with the copious aid of booze. If it’s important, interesting and/or totally obscure, we’ve probably read it, watched, or drunk it. Not in that order. The full, one-hour show is released monthly; the shorter “QWB: Happy Hour Edition,” wherein Avery explains the history behind and mixes various different nerdy cocktails, will be on a bimonthly schedule (as time allows).

AAWW Radio: New Asian American Writers & Literature

    by

    Since Oct 17, 2017 22:09 UTC

AAWW Radio is the podcast of the Asian American Writers’ Workshop, an NYC literary arts space at the intersection of migration, race, and social justice. Listen to AAWW Radio and you’ll hear selected audio from our current and past events, as well as occasional original episodes. We’ve hosted established writers like Claudia Rankine, Maxine Hong Kingston, Roxane Gay, Amitav Ghosh, Ocean Vuong, Solmaz Sharif, and Jenny Zhang. Our events are intimate and intellectual, quirky yet curated, and dedicated to social justice. We curate our events to juxtapose novelists and activists, poets and intellectuals, and bring together people who usually wouldn’t be in the same room. We’ve got it all: from avant-garde poetry to post-colonial politics, feminist comics to lyric verse, literary fiction to dispatches from the left. A sanctuary for the immigrant imagination, we believe Asian American stories deserve to be told. Learn more by visiting aaww.org Produced by the Asian American Writers’ Workshop.

    Profiles in LGBTQ+ Courage

    Profiles in LGBTQ+ Courage

    by

    Since Oct 21, 2020 20:40 UTC

This podcast program, produced by Huntington Northstar Productions of Hyannis, Massachusetts, in collaboration with PFLAG Cape Cod, explores the lives of PFLAG Cape Cod members, including members of the LGBTQ+ community and their families, who have dealt with issues of sexual identity/orientation, gender transition, and social acceptance. Many episodes offer moving and intimate portraits of individuals wrestling with their sexual/gender identity, and the path they have taken toward wholeness and healthy self-acceptance. Other episodes profile the parents, family members, and allies of LGBTQ+ individuals on their own journeys toward understanding and acceptance of loved ones. Profiles in LGBTQ+ Courage is intended both to educate listeners about the challenges facing those who identify as LGBTQ+, and to help anyone struggling with issues of orientation and sexual/gender identity to find the resources and social support they need to lead happy, fulfilling lives. Rick Koonce (Host, Interviewer and Producer) is a former print and broadcast journalist and author or co-author of seven books. A board member of PFLAG Cape Cod, he was a commentator on Public Radio’s popular business program, “Marketplace” for five years, and has conducted hundreds of interviews with people from every walk of life over the course of a 25-plus year long career in business and print and broadcast journalism.

One More Round with Tricia Black

One More Round with Tricia Black

    by

    Since Jul 4, 2020 05:00 UTC

One More Round with Tricia Black is a podcast where I, Tricia Black, sit down and have a drink…or two…or three with a variety of guests, folks that I want to get to know, people that inspire me, and friends who I just adore. We’ll talk about everything from entertainment to politics to music to culture. Stories that are touching, provocative, thoughtful, and most of the time extremely silly. It’s kind of like an east coast kitchen party, except if that kitchen were a studio and the party was the conversation. Join me and my guest in conversation every Wednesday and maybe you’ll want to stick around for One More Round… see what I did there!
