    Shut-Up & Listen

    by

    Since Feb 7, 2020 22:00 UTC

Welcome to Shut-Up & Listen: a music industry podcast where we will dive into all aspects of the music business. This podcast will not only dive into the creative process (i.e. recording) and experiences from the artist perspective; but also shed light on the granular side of the industry so we can hear from the folks behind the scenes. This will include guests that are production managers, VJ & lighting gurus, artist managers, record label managers, and folks that handle everything in-between. Each episode will feature a special guest that will share their journey and insight based on their expertise.

If you are someone who just enjoys listening to music – “the casual listener”: our hope is that you’ll finish each episode with a deeper understanding and appreciation for what goes into making music and/or putting on the events you enjoy. If you are someone currently navigating the industry; our hope is that you can listen to an episode and immediately use what you’ve heard towards reaching your artistic goals. You’re not in this alone.

Shree is your host. He has 8+ years of experience as a music educator. He has also navigated various aspects of the music business including co-founding his own production company, managing artists, producing original music with releases on music labels, performing at music festivals and more.

    “That’s what Shree said.”

    This podcast is only temporary

    by

    Since Feb 6, 2022 11:00 UTC

Belfast-born Melbourne-based songwriter and producer Andy White has a new podcast series based around the writing and recording of ‘AT’, the album he released with Tim Finn earlier this year.

As in the first series, when he went track by track with latest solo album ‘This garden is only temporary’, Andy looks at a song a week to show how layers of lyrics and music work together, ideas appear, and surprises are welcomed.

In both series, Andy plays excerpts from the master tapes and discusses process, influences and inspirations. Each episode ends with a different version of the song from the one you’ll find on the released recording.

If the underlying theme of Series 1 was “How to make an album”, Series 2 is “How to co-write an album”. There are even more ways to write songs or record when two people are involved. And if you are old friends and bandmates, you don’t need to be in the same room together.

“If you want to express something but don’t know how to express it—tell the truth. This is powerful.”

    The Daily Adventures of Mixerman

    The Daily Adventures of Mixerman

    by

    Since Aug 2, 2022 17:00 UTC

Mixerman is a Los Angeles recording engineer who in the summer of 2002, on nothing more than a hunch, began to chronicle the daily events of his Major Label recording session with a bidding-war band, an infamous producer, and a limitless budget. And he did it in real-time—each night posting his entries on the Internet, withholding only the true identities of those he writes about. As Gina Arnold from Metro Newspapers reported at the time: “Mixerman is supposed to be writing about recording techniques, but somehow, through that prism, he has hit upon a gripping story. In this podcast, you will hear an audio dramatization of the story, as narrated by Mixerman, complete with music, foley, sound fx, and character performances by some of the most famous engineers and producers in the music business.

Chris Curran chats with podcasters about their audio equipment, software and workflow to help you learn how to produce better sounding podcasts. You’ll also learn solutions to common audio issues as well as plenty of tips and tricks. By listening to this show you will gain a TON of knowledge and skills that will make a HUGE difference in your sound quality _and_ save you time! Subscribe/Follow today and start listening! Your host Chris Curran has a background in podcast production (Forbes, Dun & Bradstreet, J&J, etc) as well as music production (Sarah McLachlan, Jeff Buckley, Foreigner, etc). When he entered podcasting in 2012, he noticed that most podcasters (and producers) do not have a good understanding of fundamental audio engineering concepts, which sabotages the quality of their sound from the very beginning. This show, as well as Podcast Engineering School, helps podcasters and producers reach professional levels of podcast audio production.
