In the 1960s, Collins evoked both the idealism and steely determination of a generation united against social and environmental injustices. Five decades later, her luminescent presence shines brightly as new generations bask in the glow of her iconic 60-album body of work, thriving in the music industry for over a half a century. Her latest project, SINCE YOU`VE ASKED is an audio podcast series focusing on some of Collins` favorite musicians, artists and luminaries from her colorful life. A perfect platform for Collins, as her recordings of musical greats like Randy Newman, Jimmy Webb, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen helped launch their careers and create the foundation of our current pop history. I started podcasting for my website www.gitarlo.de and I realized how much I enjoy doing it so I thought, why not do a podcast on my on music. Part of it is to make myself a little more consistent with the rehearsing even if there aren’t many shows scheduled at the moment. So the idea is not to give you a perfect version of the songs but to play them more freely, maybe improvise a little and to play versions of the songs. I’ll also talk about them if you are interested in it. It’s the raw rehearsal situation so I won’t edit anything out. Sorry. You’ll get the real me. I think that’s also kind of liberating for me. I’ll just play as good as I can and if I mess up, I get to mess up. I hope you enjoy it and get someting out of it. If you do (and even if you don’t and hate it), please feel free to get in touch.
