    Shelf Lives

    Shelf Lives

    by

    Since Aug 10, 2020 07:00 UTC

    https://supporter.acast.com/shelf-lives

Shelf Lives is a series of short, original audio plays exploring the fictional lives of the different people we all knew and loved during lockdown, in the one social setting we grew used to for many, many months: the supermarket.

Each episode follows a different character in the same shop, on the same day, at exactly the same time, as they get to grips with both private crises and one very public pandemic. These are short, sharp ten minute insights into people’s lives – plays in podcast form.

During this incredibly difficult time for the theatre industry, On A Wimb are committed to finding ways of creating new theatrical content. They want to work with fellow creatives to produce work that not only responds to the COVID-19 pandemic, but supports fellow theatre professionals and finds a way to help the industry flourish in spite of the circumstances. On A Wimb are currently working on another piece of online content which follows this same principle, which they’ll be announcing shortly.

On A Wimb is a theatre company founded in 2019 and comprised of Beth Colley, Emma Raczkowski, Jack Stanley and Stanley Walton. They formed because they thought we’re digging the planet into a bigger hole and wanted to do something about it (and I mean that was pre-pandemic 2019. Imagine how we feel now). Our work is eco-conscious, exploring issues that affect the planet in sustainable productions that try to lessen the impact on it. In 2019, they were shortlisted for the Les Enfants Terribles Award for emerging theatre companies.

    I’ll Have What She’s Having!

    I’ll Have What She’s Having!

    by

    Since Nov 30, 2019 20:00 UTC

This is a podcast with humble roots in my experience with circle-based communities, committed to sharing our wisdom traditions, cultural richness, ancestral teachings, and hard-won personal insights in the service of co-making a beautiful world. The intention within my heart as host is to curate a welcoming and sensual space that brings ease to the nervous system, as well as the heart/brain activation that sparks creativity, openness, and receptivity. This podcast is an etheric meeting place for those free-lancing ‘mystics’ of our current cultural, technological, and mycelial matrix. The highly sensitive, the deeply insightful, those ‘taken up’ on the wings of imagination, attuned to the subtle music of the earth, open to brushing up against other bodies, beings, ideas, and lifeways with curiosity rather than fear. Those whose hearts live in stubborn refusal to harden, choosing to remain soft and permeable, and in service to the Sacred aspects of Life. Those who delight in the path of wisdom, embrace multiple ways of knowing, accept what is not known with humble uncertainty, and practice the subtle art of spell-breaking in a spellbound world. The conversations herein are walkabouts in the woods, lanterns in hand, in which we explore what interconnects us, what separates us, the structures in our world that harm and those that heal, and the beautiful, good things that make life bearable, incredible, magical. These conversations live outside of the halls of academia, they hold paradox rather than polarization, they espouse curiosity with one another and with life, and recognize the folly of metanarratives. May hearts, brains, and bodies ‘light up’ around this charitable fire. I invite you into spaciousness, fellowship, care-fullness. There is room at this table for you, the candles are lit, and a lending library is open.

Tall Tales & Shaggy Dogs: Stories and short humor by Abner Serd

Tall Tales & Shaggy Dogs: Stories and short humor by Abner Serd

    by

    Since Feb 18, 2015 02:00 UTC

Storyteller Abner Serd specializes in short humor with a twist. His stories often pull the listener out of the normal sphere of reality and into a surrealistic landscape populated with eccentric characters who nonchalantly redefine common sense. Think of these stories as comic strips for the ears: short, weekly doses of whimsy. What yarns will Abner spin today? As Jimmy Fingerbutton the inventor once put it, “the world is full of things nobody ever thought of before.” This is an all-ages podcast – there’s a little something for everybody. In 2016, the podcast switched from a daily to a weekly release schedule, with a new story appearing each Wednesday.

    Tales From The Swan Hotel

    by

    Since Apr 4, 2014 00:00 UTC

In southern California, just outside Hollywood, there is a most unusual hotel. A hotel dedicated to the golden age of cinema and the departures of its most influential and notorious players. It is a destination that spotlights the manners in which these men and women of Hollywood perished. The rooms are decorated with an array of evidence and clues, unique to each death, and fitted with a cast of department store manikins which stand in for the major roles involved – Forensic precision made kitschy and accessible to all. Each episode we will present to you one of these rooms, and rouse your im

We Are ALL Made of Stories with Ellie Royce

    by

    Since Nov 17, 2020 04:00 UTC

Stories, stories, stories. Your story. My story. OUR story. We read them watch them, hear them, LIVE them. I write stories, mainly for kids (but hey, anyone is allowed to read them!) I help people find their stories – especially but not only – older people. I share stories and stories about stories, because they weave us into families, communities and cultures, because they are the way we make meaning out of our world, and because they bring me joy. I hope they bring you joy too. See, I can’t tell you how to live your life, but I can share a story- and maybe it’s just the one you need. We are ALL made of stories… what’s yours?
