The sun sets. The moon rises. The night howls. . . . The sleepy foothills hamlet of Black Diamond is waking to a new dawn of economic prosperity. The government has announced plans to develop the Kananskis Parklands, a rugged wilderness northwest of town. Three world-class ski resorts within an hour’s drive! The increase in tourist traffic will make everyone rich. . . . Wealthy businessman Gavin Freid fans a fire of discontent when he claims the Fellowship—a colony of granola-eating back-to-earthers—opposes development.
