Supply chains: the supermarket – for iPod/iPhone

    by

    Since Dec 5, 2009 03:40 UTC

How does a large supermarket chain expand into new markets? How does it adapt to new cultural values and consumer preferences? This album tells the story of leading UK retailer Tesco, which has increasingly become an international player in markets such as South-East Asia and Eastern Europe. The company gains global reach by forming strategic partnerships and adapting to distinct cultural traditions and preferences. Examples from Korea, Hungary and Thailand illustrate how the management and impact of supply chains presents fundamental organisational challenges. This material forms part of The Open University course T882 Supply chain innovation, strategy and management.

    Notes from the Beeyard

    Notes from the Beeyard

    by

    Since Aug 13, 2021 17:00 UTC

Notes from the Beeyard is a weekly podcast about the joys and disappointments of beekeeping.

From 1990 to 2016 Colorado beekeeper Tom Theobald wrote a weekly column, Notes from the Beeyard, for a regional farm and ranch magazine.

Tom’s initial plan for Notes from the Beeyard was to document a single year in his life as a beekeeper – swarm management, working toward the honey flow, bears – and so on. Over time, the column grew to hold much more. Notes from the Beeyard is about the joys and disappointments of beekeeping. It’s about the Colorado landscape, friendship, the fabric of Western life, and the passage of time.

Listen to Notes from the Beeyard to hear Tom read stories about beekeeping. Enjoy the conversation that follows as Tom and Notes from the Beeyard podcast host, Laura Tyler, chat about Tom’s stories.

    Tom Theobald

“There are few crafts which draw one as intimately into the natural order of things as the bees do, and even after years of beekeeping I often found myself standing in awe at some event I witnessed in my work.”

Tom Theobald is an author and beekeeper who has lived and kept bees in Niwot, Colorado for over 40 years.

    Laura Tyler

“I love talking with beekeepers and listening to stories about their lives because working with bees is fascinating and can feel adventuresome.”

Laura Tyler is a media producer and visual artist with over 20 years experience keeping bees in Boulder, Colorado.

The series was a pinnacle of American popular culture from its 1935 premiere until its end in 1959. The Jack Benny Show

    The Jack Benny Show

    by

    Since Jul 11, 2007 01:06 UTC

The Jack Benny Program, starring Jack Benny, was a radio-TV comedy series which ran for more than three decades and is generally regarded as a high-water mark in 20th-century comedy. Jack Benny (February 14, 1894 in Chicago, Illinois â December 26, 1974 in Beverly Hills, California), born Benjamin Kubelsky, was an American comedian, vaudeville performer, and radio, television, and film actor. He was one of the biggest stars in classic American radio and was also a major television personality. Benny was renowned for his flawless comic timing and (especially) his ability to get laughs with either a pregnant pause or a single expression, such as his signature exasperated “Well!”. In hand with his dear friend and great “rival” Fred Allen â their long-running “feud” was a famous running gag. Now join us as we return to The Jack Benny Program filled with laughter and great gags that will keep you coming back for more.

Alderpod – The Aldersgate Cycle Podcast

Alderpod – The Aldersgate Cycle Podcast

    by

    Since Apr 22, 2008 16:06 UTC

The Aldersgate is a steampunk western of epic scale, where the fate of the world rests on a final showdown between steam and sorcery. Cora Grey is a seventeen year old Alderclass girl who loves stories of chivalry and romance. But it isn’t easy being one of only five girls in Vell, the small Territories town where her father is the Alderman. Just as she finally musters up the courage to tell her best friend, the blacksmith’s son Brick, how she truly feels about him, all the hells break loose. The Order of the Oak, the Queen’s messenger knights, sweep through Vell and abduct all Alderclass girls–including Cora’s younger sister Denna. Cora narrowly escapes with the help of her maid Gem, and the town’s eccentric inventor, a diminutive woman named Professor. They descend into darkness and Cora finds herself an unwelcome guest in a wondrous underground city called the Nithings, inhabited by the peculiar Sibs. Which would be welcome–except that the Sibs, and their home, aren’t supposed to exist outside of fairy stories at all. Cora’s story, along with those of the bard Emry Roy, the knight Sir Sylvan DeLoire, Princess Ellinora, and the queen’s high counselor Kaythra Bav, sets the stage for a coming war between technology and magic and draw them all toward the Aldersgate, where the final outcome will determine the fate of their world.
