The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker

The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker

    by

    Since Aug 11, 2020 23:01 UTC

The Shift is a podcast that aims to tell the truth about being a woman post-40, created and hosted by writer and broadcaster, Sam Baker.

Did you ever wonder why you stop hearing so many women’s voices once they pass 40? That’s where The Shift comes in – a frank, funny, sometimes heartbreaking, always honest look at what it means to be a woman in midlife and beyond. Work, life, love, health, sex, money, identity, body image… What does it all mean when everything around you (and inside you…) is changing? Each week, award-winning author and journalist Sam Baker asks a different woman how she got here, where she’s going – and how it feels to be where she is right now. Expect intimate conversation, big laughs, occasional tears and an awful lot of ripping up the rule book and stamping on it… Past guests have included Nicola Sturgeon, Marian Keyes, Guilty Feminist Deborah Frances-White, Minnie Driver, Philippa Perry, Anita Rani, Tracey Thorn, Isabel Allende, Bobbi Brown, Barbara Blake-Hannah and many more, talking everything from confidence to career reinvention, mental health, menopause and so much more.

If you love The Shift and would like to hear more conversations with women over 40, why not become a member of our community and receive a weekly newsletter, get exclusive transcripts, join The Shift bookclub and so much more, please visit https://theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com/

Blooming Boomers of Autumn and Winter Podcast

Blooming Boomers of Autumn and Winter Podcast

    by

    Since Jun 29, 2019 04:00 UTC

The booming Blooming Boomers, Late Bloomers (and Others) podcast is an Autumn and Winter Productions podcast. The podcast focus is on topics resonating especially with those of us 50 years old and up, and up: the booming, blooming Boomers, the late Bloomers, and just us all of us more mature folks: exploring, celebrating, sharing, the wonderful creative and amazing autumn and winter seasons of our lives. Topics are wide-range and include health, travel, dating, making new friends, dress code, bursts of new-found creativity, dealing with loss, retirement, fitness, residential care, dealing with ageism, down-sizing, new careers and businesses, happiness, ageing well, death, quality of life as we get older …. Each podcast is 15-30 minutes in duration and follows one of the following 3 formats: co-hosts Anna and Mirella share their personal views on a particular topic; or, invited guest(s) add their input and stories based on their knowledge, experience, challenges, achievements; or, On the Street perspectives on a specific topic from the general public – random passers-by. We generally post 1-2 episodes per month (with possible exception during the summer months and December). Some of the experiences and perceptions we discuss are common to us all as we get older, some are very unique as each one of us. The overall goal of the podcast series is to provide a voice, and even a community, for those of us 50 years old and well beyond, in a society that at large tends to minimize those voices and their relevance. We’d like to continue helping to shape the world, to contribute, encourage discussion, to inspire, inform, question, to understand, even provoke and challenge what it means to be an autumn and winter bloomer today in our communities, in our society and in the world in general. During each podcast, we strive to be our authentic selves and share our journeys, so our style is personal, open, curious, sometimes even philosophical, partly our own self-discovery and growth – so please join us. A bit more about the podcast team: AnnaKC (Kaz Chmielewski) (nickname “Anya”) – podcast co-host, podcast executive producer; engineering and business graduate from Montreal, worked as a Project Manager in various tech industries and past liaison and associate producer for the Backstage-Vancouver video blog; currently working on various shorts, documentaries, short stories; Mirella Gibeau – podcast co-host; Mirella holds a Masters degree in Education from the University of Alberta; she is a former high school theatre arts teacher; presently Mirella is working as an actress already seen in various films, shorts, commercials – one of her latest projects is “The Tale Blazers” www.talltrueandtangled.com ; Nick Wangersky – podcast audio/editor; Nick is a Vancouver Arts Institute graduate; he is the editor of Hollywood North Magazine, and an all-around talent in the independent film industry. We record out of various locations in the Vancouver, BC, Canada area – hence any local references and service locales are within that geographic area. We also include contact info for anyone interested. However, we feel our topics have relevance just about anywhere you are located and likely any service(s) we refer to can be just as easily found in your area too. Our guests although often from the Vancouver region also hail from other parts of the world. Feel free to check our our constantly evolving website www.thebloomingboomers.com, contact us with your feedback if you like via email bbteam@thebloomingboomers.com or use the form located on the web site. We look forward to your input.

Wot The Fog _ Two Friends. One Menopause. A Thousand Challenges. A Million Laughs

Wot The Fog _ Two Friends. One Menopause. A Thousand Challenges. A Million Laughs

    by

    Since Dec 8, 2020 21:00 UTC

Two friends. One midlife journey. A thousand challenges. A million laughs.

Come and join the conversation. We’re two friends with many shared challenges and experiences, but by far the biggest experience has been, and still is, midlife and menopause. Boy have we been on a journey with it. From perimenopause to full on meno, we’ve been together all the way sharing, supporting, encouraging and having each other’s backs. Even holding each other when we’ve had our ‘wall slider’ moments (you’ll hear more about this don’t worry).

We’ve found things along the way that have worked for us, physically and emotionally but the things that really are getting us through are each other, our friendship and laughs. No matter what happens, we have plenty of laughs.

We want to share our experiences with you in the hope that you’ll realise you’re not alone, that you’ll discover some things that might help you through this crazy but freeing phase of your life, and we hope you’ll share with us too because we’ve still got plenty to learn and far to go.

We’ll have regular features … •Lost and Found (or Lost & Never Found) •Fog Moments •Symptoms, Shares and Top Tips •Play Time – Just for Fun including Activities, Music, Makeup, Fashion etc.

Along the way, we’ll also be inviting some lovely special guests to join us to share their expertise and experiences. Above all, we hope you’ll feel a part of our little community, safe enough to share and that you’ll laugh along with us.

    Enjoy listening.

    Big love,
    LouLou and Michele x

    Functional Medicine Podcast

    Functional Medicine Podcast

    by

    Since Jan 8, 2018 18:00 UTC

Welcome to the Wellness Connection MD podcast, where Dr. McMinn and Coach Lindsey become your partners on a quest for optimal wellness. Simply stated, our goal is to bring to you up-to-date, honest, vetted, unbiased, evidence-based information about health and wellness, along with practical solutions, in order to empower you to overcome your healthcare challenges, and to optimize your health in mind, body, and spirit.

As our population ages, and we are faced with an alarming epidemic of chronic diseases. Clearly, the current drug-based sick-care model of healthcare is simply not working. The cost of healthcare is skyrocketing for patients, and for our society at large, and legions of patients with chronic diseases are falling through the cracks of modern medicine. These people are often desperate to be heard, to be taken seriously, and to have their concerns adequately addressed. On the Wellness Connection MD podcast we will focus more on a preventive, lifestyle-based, functional, and integrative approach to optimal wellness. We challenge the medical community to “think different,” while remaining evidence-based, while opening our minds to other viable therapies beyond drugs and surgery. We also advocate that this shift in thinking be accompanied by a renaissance of “loving kindness” in healthcare. Providers and patients would all benefit.

We are hopeful for the future of health care. Patients are demanding a new approach, and big medicine is beginning to listen. Fifteen years ago when we embarked on this journey integrative and functional medicine were hardly on the radar screen. However we now see that many of our most esteemed healthcare institutions have dedicated integrative or functional programs, such as Harvard, Duke, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Vanderbilt, UCSF and many others. Integrative and functional medicine are gaining credibility across the nation and around the world. We will all be better off for the change.

We hope that you will join us on this journey to optimal wellness on Wellness Connection MD. Take care and be well.
